Poor Fanny, it seems the new mommy just can’t catch a break these days, although she sort of just did. The “American Idol” winner was just exonerated from accusations that she and her manager Brian Dickens took $15,000 from Harvest Family Church and failed to honor a scheduled appearance at the place of worship.
In March, Music Ministry Team Organizer for Harvest Family Church Matthew Herman, came forward with the accusations about the singer’s absence from a scheduled appearance and, of course, had to put her on blast on Twitter.
“Fantasia’s Manager agreed on the $15,000 contract and then magically became unavailable. Just like he’s done with other people in the past,” he tweeted. “I only dealt with Fantasia’s manager because she won’t do business without him. Very unfortunate. Such a sad career for her with him.”
Several months after Dickens threatened legal action against Herman, he recanted his statements—again on Twitter.
“On March 14,2012 I posted false and harmful statements about Fantasia’s manager Brian Dickens, BD Management and Fantasia to my @Matthewwrites twitter account. Neither Fantasia’s manager Brian Dickens or BD Management ever confirmed an appearance date for Fantasia to appear at the Harvest Family Church, Neither Fantasia’s Manager Brian Dickens or BD Management were ever paid by or took any money at any time from Harvest Family Church. I regret that certain blogs picked up on my statements and added to them to create additional misstatements about Mr. Dicks and BD Management.”
Sounds like somebody was bullied into damage control.
The good thing is this move will hopefully clear up Fanny’s dwindling rep. Her personal life—particularly her relationship and child with Antwuan Cook—have caused many to question her career and qualifications as a role model, including Mahalia Jackson’s family who wasn’t too keen on the idea of her portraying the famed gospel singer on screen. One thing we do know is Fantasia definitely needs to work with two mouths to feed so we hope she’ll be back at it soon.
Do you think it might be time for Fanny to consider new management?
