Style to Steal or Girl, Stop: Jennifer Hudson & Jill Scott
Go Divas! (*does two snaps*)
For this weekend’s VH1 Divas special, all of your favorite soul singers and sistahs with voices got dolled up for both the carpet and the big stage. While all the talk is about their awesome performances, we should take a minute to chat about their fashion choices as well.
Jilly from Phiilly was looking anything but blue in this blueburry-colored ensemble that had flashbulbs on fire, baby! Her floor-length gown was ruched and peppered with small details, including tiny rhinestones/crystals in between her girls. She added some flair to the fit with a big-ol luxurious blue and black fur coat and brought it back to simplicity with a clean black clutch, and medium-sized silver hoops. She topped it all of with a braided hump and some bright bling on her wrist and fingers.
Everyone knows that ever since homegirl lost weight, you can’t keep her from showing off that bodacious bod. And I’m not mad at her! She jumped on the carpet in this…let’s just call it beige-ish…short stretchy number with lace detailing around the neckline. The v-neck dress left just enough leg out for her thigh high sparkly boots and their belted detail. Her jewelry was also blinged out with smarkly bangles, a couple fly rings, some major hoops and what looks like some extra material from the dress wrapped around the neck. To finish off the whole look she went for a fun bob with fresh curls and some sassy and sophisticated makeup.
So what do we think? If you ask me, both ladies definitely captured the “diva” look! However, if I was to choose, I would probably go for Jill’s ensemble over JHud’s. Jennifer’s look was a little to “fresh” for me (and confusing with the random neck attire), but she definitely looks hot in it. Now, if Jill could drop the fur coat and was rocking Jennifer’s hair, this would read me all over. But I still like it. Steal, for Jilly from Philly (minus the obnoxious coat) and a polite stop it for Jenn. What do you think?

High Maintenance or Low Tolerance?
Every time I hear a guy refer to a woman as “high maintenance” I serve up a side eye that is filled with an ounce of “boy please” and “go sit down somewhere”. Even when women call other women “high maintenance” it annoys me. I guess it’s the words high and maintenance that gets under my skin, because it makes a person sound like they are difficult to handle or require special attention and care as if they were a product not a person. Of course this name sake is hardly ever in the context of something positive, making the situation even worse, but why does being “high maintenance” have to be a bad thing? Or is it just because most people can’t handle anything above the average?
