The ninth and final season of “The Game” begins on BET tonight and if we’re being honest, Coby Bell might just be what we’ll miss most about this show we’ve been following ever since its throwback days on the CW. We recently had a chance to chat with the hilarious actor and Brittany Daniel to ask how they feel about the series coming to an end and then we tried to get a little extra somethin’ somethin’ out of Coby but he wasn’t having it. See what happened when we asked him to bust out a tune for us in the video above and be sure to tune in to “The Game” tonight on BET at 10 pm ET/PT.
Remember Coby Bell? Better known for his role as a hunky football player named Jason Pitts on the CW/BET show The Game? Yes, that guy, and let’s not pretend we all didn’t have a crush on him during his tenure there! Well, according to an article posted by Deadline.com, 39-year-old Bell and his sexy self are back on the small screen as he’s just been casted to appear in the ABC drama pilot The Advocate, alongside Joy Bryant, among others. This time, the California-raised, half Black/half White Bell will play a character named Chris, who is trying to keep the medical firm the show is based on afloat. Let’s just say, between the beautifulness that is Bell and Bryant, we’re sure the show will become permanent very soon!
But Bell isn’t only an actor – this handsome guy is also a producer and a musician, as well as husband and father of four gorgeous kids–two sets of twins! And, he has an extensive acting repertoire that started way before we first took notice on The Game. Bell began his career in the 90s, playing small roles on a number of shows including The Parent ‘Hood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ER and Smart Guy, before scoring a 13-episode stint as Patrick Owen on L.A. Doctors. In 1999, Bell appeared in the NBC drama Third Watch as Officer Ty Davis, Jr., becoming one of only five original cast members to remain on the show throughout its entire six-season run on the network. That secure role didn’t stop him from venturing out and landing other acting gigs in the meantime, like co-starring in Safe, a play co-written by Third Watch co-star Anthony Ruivivar.
Just after Third Watch ended its run in 2005, Bell landed yet another recurring role, this time as San Francisco firefighter Glen Stallworth on the comedy series Half & Half. In 2006, Bell marked his debut as a producer on Drifting Elegant, an independent film he co-produced and starred in. It was that very year that Bell guest-starred in an episode of the UPN show Girlfriends in an episode titled “The Game,” which served as the pilot for the comedy-drama series of the same name that would make him a desirable, household face (and abs!). To commemorate his latest acting achievement, Mommynoire has put together a slideshow of fifteen images of this delicious specimen for you all to enjoy. Here’s to you, Coby Bell!

“Every Mistake Is Coming Back To Bite Him.” Coby Bell Talks Jason Pitts, His TV Wives & Singing On The Show
Yesterday, we posted a video of Brandy and Brittany Daniels which Coby Bell interrupted, complaining that he got the short end of the stick. He didn’t have the nice set up that the ladies did.
Thankfully, Coby was a good sport. In our interview with Bell, aka Jason Pitts, talks about what’s new for his character this season. He told that, “Every choice, every mistake that he’s ever made is coming back to bite him in the ass,” including the steroid situation.
Coby talked about working with both of his tv wives, ways he’s similar to his character and his other love of music being incorporated in the show’s new season.
Check out the video above.
And be sure to watch “BET’s The Game” every Tuesday, 10p/9c.
BET’s “The Game” is really spicing things up in the upcoming season. We told you there’s talk of Melanie and Derwin coming back (aka Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry) but before we see them back on the scene, we can look forward to another familiar face in Kelly Pitts.
In our exclusive interview with Brittany Daniels and Brandy, Daniels explained why she came back to the show.
“I had to come back on the show. I had to finish. This character has been my most favorite character that I’ve ever played on any project. I felt like that I needed to come back. There needed to be some kind of completion to this story.”
The ladies also spoke the ways they’re similar to their characters, the drama that Kelly is going to bring to the show now–you know she has been known to punch people– and whether or not there are unresolved feelings between Jason and Kelly. OOooo Sounds like there’s going to be some mess involved.
There’s also surprise guest in this interview. Check it out in the video above.
You can watch “BET’s The Game” on Tuesdays, (tonight!) on BET at 10p/9c.
Will you watch?
When we watch "The Game" usually the actors are in serious mode, conveying the latest dramatic scene. But when you spend so much time around people, you develop a nice, jovial relationship. The cast members are actually quite close. Check out Jay Ellis and Hosea Chancez joke with one another and then Coby Bell and Brandy on the next page.
Sometimes it’s hard to come by a check in Hollywood but these celebs, they had no problem finding not one but two gigs at the same time.
Niecy Nash had us in tears as Deputy Raineesha Williams on Comedy Central’s “Reno 911!” Since then Nash has padded her resume with numerous guest appearances, along with her own reality show. Finding a regular check with TV Land, Nash plays a preacher’s wife opposite Cedric the Entertainer on “The Soul Man.” Nash is once again flexing her comedic acting chops with another show. The married mother of three plays a nurse at a geriatric ward inside of a hospital on HBO’s “Getting On,” based on a British show of the same name.
Well, well, well. Look what we have here.
For those of you who are still watching BET’s “The Game,” and I know you’re still out there, you’re in for a treat. One of our favorite characters from the earlier seasons is coming back for season 7. Kelly Pitts ya’ll.
You know she’s going to come in and cause all types of drama. Admittedly, I haven’t watched the show in years but I will admit that I was saddened when she and Jason split up. So I’m interested to see what happens with that.
Fans learned of the return of Brittany Daniel when Brandy posted this potential love triangle, herself as Chardonnay and Coby Bell (aka Jason Pitts) and Daniel. She included the caption “Look who’s BACK! @thegameBET #season7.”
Are you excited to see Kelly coming back to the show? Who would you want to see Jason with, Chardonnay or Kelly?
With the premiere of Season 6 of BET’s hit television show The Game swiftly approaching, fans are rather curious as to what can be expected this season, especially considering that the show lost one of its main stars, Melanie Barnett-Davis (Tia Mowry-Hardrict) and Derwin Davis (Pooch Hall) has been reduced to a mere accessory character. The show’s resident mama’s boy, Malik El Debarge Wright aka Hosea Chanchez recently chatted it up with Shadow and Act, discussing the forthcoming season and what fans can look forward to.
On Season 5 issues being smoothed out this season:
“Season 5 ended with a lot of the characters being in limbo. Melanie and Derwin moved away. My character was dealing with the crash of his substance abuse problems and his relationship issues, Mom and Dad issues. There were a lot of open ended storylines, which will get worked out in this season.”
On his role as Malik:
“He is a very emotionally charged individual. I know that everyone may see a hot headed person, but it really stems from him being this sensitive and caring guy that really does not know how to express himself in the right way. In this season, you will get to see this character get fleshed out way differently than before.”
“Malik runs through women, and you really don’t get to see the character of a man until you see him with a woman. That’s just the way it is, and not just a fly by day and night woman, a woman that he really loves. You also get to see the character of a man when you watch how a man behaves with his mother. So with Malik, if you look at how he behaves with women and his mother, you will see his character.”
“Dude takes a lot of energy. He is so opposite than me in so many ways. I have to get in the mind set of being on all the time. The guy is on all the damn time. Early on in this role, I prepared for him by watching tapes of Dieon Sanders, Bo Jackson, Terrell Owens. Now, with this character it’s like being on auto pilot. So it’s like retraining something that is already there. I don’t have to study as much as I used to for this role.”
Ever looked at someone and at first glance, they were just okay, but at a different angle, in a different situation, or whatever happened, they all of a sudden looked good as all get out? It happens more than we think, especially when a man gets a makeover, grows some nice muscles we didn’t see coming and puts some Chapstick on (I was kidding on that last one, but it does help!). Check out these 10 fellas whose good looks crept up on us and now we just can’t get enough. Call a sista!
I guess if you’ve been a ride or die fan of Nas since Illmatic, you probably picked up on the fact that Nas is more than just a man who can rhyme very well, he’s a FINE man who can rhyme very well. I think it was just the very baggy clothes and the ruggedness back then that had some scratching their heads when other women would squeal, “GIRL, Nas is FINE!” But the older he gets, the more we hear that voice, the more we can’t help but wish we knew Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones a little better outside of the music. And granted, we’re not fans of the way things fell apart with Kelis, but that still doesn’t take away from the fact that those lips are a gift. Man oh man…
Whose the biggest flirt on The Game cast? Whose the biggest prankster? You may be surprised by the answers.
After sitting down with the cast of the The Game including Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez and Brandy, we got to know a little more about some of our favorite actors and actresses of the hit BET show, including the fact that Pooch is quite the character off stage…
