Since the beginning of film-making, directors have cast actors and actresses into roles based significantly on talent, often letting factors like age fall by the wayside. Age ain’t nothing but a number in Hollywood, and that’s evident when a 41-year-old Barber Streisand was cast to play a 17-year-old in Yentl, or a 34-year-old Stockard Channing was cast to play an 18-year-old girl in Grease. Let’s see what other actresses and actors are old enough to father or give birth to some of the characters they’ve played–or at least be a young aunt or uncle to them.

Remember when you were 10 and 11 and you thought you could do anything and there still might be monsters in your closet and magic was possibly real? Well, we have these movies to thank for that. When we were kids, we absolutely loved these flicks and as adults, we officially consider them our childhood faves.

"The Sandlot movie poster"

Sandlot

Baseball commentator Scott Smalls reminisces about the summer of ’62, the year his family moved and he first fell in love with the game of baseball. It was in “The Sandlot” that he learned first-hand the meaning of teamwork and camaraderie. He also realizes everyone abstains from hitting a homerun over the sandlot fence because there’s a ferocious dog guarding the property. As luck would have it, the first time Scott “borrows” his stepfather’s autographed baseball without asking, he hits it over the fence and has to go retrieve it. A classic cult favorite, “The Sandlot” spawned three direct-to-video sequels.

Child Stars Grown Up

The future of a kid star or teen actor is an unsure one. We learned this fact from the entire cast of Different Strokes… and, actually the stars of MOST eighties sitcoms, including Jaimee Foxworth, who played the youngest daughter, Judy, on Family Matters for the first few seasons before her character was suddenly dissolved and wound up doing adult films. So, for a star to not only survive the kid star to adult role transition–continuing to have a thriving career, but to also transition into a stunningly attractive adult, that is an amazing feat. Actresses and actors such as Hilary Duff, Dakota Fanning and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are looking better than ever, so let’s check out who’s looking better with time in our community.

Congratulations are in order for actor Donald Faison and Jessica Simpson’s former personal assistant, CaCee Cobb! People confirm the two were married on Saturday afternoon at actor Zach Braff’s home. He and Faison were co-stars on NBC’s Scrubs.

Faison and Cobb have been together since 2006, a year after Cobb came to “fame” after appearing on then couple Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson’s reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. Faison, of course, has maintained quite the acting career with credits including Clueless and Waiting to Exhale.

Jessica Simpson served as a bridesmaid for Cobb as they not only worked together but are best friends.  The entire Simpson family, including Joe Simpson who has seen better days in the media, were in attendance. It has also been reported that other celebrities were there but no one but Simpson was identified.

The two were engaged in August 2011.  This is the first marriage for 35 year old Cobb and the second for 38 year old Faison. In addition, Faison has four children: three with his ex-wife, Lisa Askey and another from a previous relationship.

We wish them all the best!

As If! Stacey Dash And The Cast Of “Clueless” Reunite

Confession: I love this movie!

When Clueless came out in 1995, you could not tell me I was not Stacey Dash among my group of white girlfriends in catholic school, and 17 years later I will still bust this movie out from time to time on a Saturday, no lie. For it’s special “reunion issue,” Entertainment Weekly got the popular crew back together from Cher (Alicia Silverstone), Josh (Paul Rudd), Dionne (Stacey Dash) and Murry (Donald Faison), to Christian (Jeremy Sisto), Travis (Breckin Meye), and even the full-on Monet Amber (Elisa Donovan).

The cast talked about how the movie essentially made all of their careers (even if attitudes, ahem, have gotten in the way for some of them along the way), and they talked about crazy it is that a movie that was expected to be a bust is still a cult classic almost 20 years later. Here are a few of the “secrets” behind the film that the cast revealed during their EW photo shoot and interview:

*Stacey Dash, who plays Cher’s best friend Dionne, was hardly a teenager at the time. “I was 27, and I was playing this high school student,” says Dash, “and I had a son at home who was six years old.”

*Everybody’s expectations were low. Says Faison, “When we were making the movie, you don’t think the movie’s going to be good. You think, I’m making the next License to Drive. You think this movie’s going to be just for teenagers and that’s it.”

*Over the years, the film’s cult following has come up with some odd interpretations of the film. “Someone came up to me once and — very serious and teary-eyed — said, ‘I just want you to know that when I saw Clueless and I saw Travis decide to go into a 12-step program, that’s when I decided to get sober.’ There was a part of me that was like, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ And there was another part of me that was like, ‘Are you serious? Because I’m pretty sure Travis might have relapsed. But I’m happy you found that.’”

Are you a closet “Clueless” fan?

Girl Talk: Next Time You’re Going Out, Ask Yourself This Question

From HelloBeautiful

It was a Friday night in Detroit. (I know, just keep reading)

Me and the homie decided to take in a bit of the nightlife in ‘the D’. (I KNOW! Just stay with me on this one)

So, there I was.  Standing in the middle of a packed “club” (in my head I just used 2-finger air quotes) wearing a simple ensemble: leggings, tall boots, a fitted top, and some fun accessories.  I thought I wore my outfit well, but it was no competition for the attire surrounding me. Everywhere, in every color and in every size were women in what I like to call ‘don’t bend over’ dresses.  Dresses so short that if she bends over…. yep, you know.

There is a list of 7 things that annoy men about women, which I’m sure you’ve checked out. And while that was eye-opening, it is only fitting that the women get to voice their concerns as well. The male list of annoyances consisted of communication components.  As women, we’re always able to delve a little deeper (or be a bit shallow). The men we share our lives with irritate us for more reasons than one. They should certainly take notice of this small list. But then again, we’re barely scratching the surface.
