First dates, or dates in general, can be nerve wrecking, anxious, and exciting all at the same time. For many of us, we are going out with a guy we are actually interested in and want to make a good impression. For the rest, maybe it’s just for a free meal. Either way, there are always a lot of things to think about before you go out on with someone. Like these 14 things.

Rules are set in place for a reason, they give us the structure and standards that allows us to determine the rights, wrongs, the dos and don’ts of the world. But when it comes to fashion, some rules are meant to be broken. And now that we have unofficially welcomed the fall season, the old adage “No White After Labor Day” happens to be one of those very rules we can actually forego. So if you’ve planned to put away those white jeans you loved during the spring and summer season, keep them out–you’ll be able to work them into fashionable outfits well into the fall season. One tip to remember: When embracing white after Labor Day, wear white garments that are of a heavier weight; stay away from linen and lightweight fabrics—this way you’ll still be seasonally appropriate.

Here are a few white garments you’ll love breaking the rules wearing….

The Attack On Derrick Rose’s “Basketball Wife”: Should She Step Her Game Up?

If you follow sports or just like to follow up on cute athletes, you know by now that Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose was injured last week and is out for the remainder of the playoffs.  Well earlier this week he was spotted in a sky box watching his teammates and spotted in the row in front of him was his rumored girlfriend (and unconfirmed expectant mother of his child), Mieka.  As I scoured the comments of various sites that posted the pictures (she’s in the row in front of him on his right side), there was one consistent question: “Why does she look so rough?”  The questions that followed wondered why she wasn’t dressed to the “9s” and why she couldn’t “really” get her hair done.  Hmm.  I looked at the pictures again and noticed that she likely wasn’t wearing any makeup and yes, she had on rain boots but other than that, she looked like she was genuinely there to show support for the game.

The follow-up comment to that question was almost always, “If you’re going to be an athlete’s girl, you need to step your game up.” So although Mieka’s look might be fine for a woman dating an “average Joe” and may have been okay when they first met, it is unacceptable for  her to have such a casual appearance (in public) when she is dating a man who is not only rich but is also a superstar.  Essentially, being yourself – and we don’t know this is how she looks everyday as this is only one set of pictures – is not as clear cut when your status has been elevated because of your relationship.

Check out the full set of pictures on Mediatakeout.

What’s your take? If you find yourself dating a celebrity, are you obligated to step up your appearance?  If you do, are you wrong for changing? If you don’t, are you asking for him to move on to a woman who will “step it up?”

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop: LaLa Anthony, Selita Ebanks & Jessica White Get Kind of Blue on Us

If blue wasn’t already your favorite color, these celebrities rocking the bright yet subdued shade might help you change your mind on that shade of pink you were thinking about. Let’s take a look at three of our favorite celebrities wearing some blueberry, sky and baby blue joints all over the country this week to determine who should feel good and who really should feel blue about their style choices.

Oh, Jessica White. She’s such a pretty woman, but I don’t know what it is about her fashion choices that just always throws me off. The spokesmodel wore this extravagant blue gown to the Dream Big! The Jacob’s Cure gala in NYC on Wednesday. While the leggy model is rocking the gown well, we’re not sure we like the gown at all. The strapless dress was doing an ombre design all over with beading covering it. And if that wasn’t interesting enough, she had a split that literally came up to her ladybits. The nude peep toe pumps, some studded earrings and a few rings were her only accessories, and she did a bright red lip and pulled back hair to tie everything together. I don’t know what it is, but this dress just comes off sort of cheap looking to me (why a black zipper when nothing else is black on the dress?). And maybe it’s even the weird tiered sash at her waist. Body wise, she looks great, but I can’t do this look. Sorry, girl. Stop.

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop Weekly Wrap-Up: Jessica White, Nicki Minaj, La La and More

You know what time it is. It’s about to be the weekend, so we have to do a rewind on some of the most fun, eclectic and busted outfits of the week. Shall we begin?

Source: fashionbombdaily.com

While at Madison Square Garden to cheer on her man Melo, La La Anthony showed up in boy-meets-girl ensemble that was a mix of prints and textures. She wore a sheer Alexander Wang top (sweater actually) that mixed orange, black and white. On her feet were some snakeskin Louboutins, peeking underneath leather pants. While I think she might have been going for a casual but cool ensemble, this mixture of looks is…the most. I’ll pass, but if they were worn separately I’m sure it would be hot. No thanks though.

Girl, where have you been!? Singer Chrisette Michelle finally brought herself out of the house for a Petals-N-Belles Limitless event in NYC. She wore this body-hugging dress with snowflake-like designs and some intricately placed sequins. On her feet were some taupe peep-toe pumps with floral detailing at the front. She came to the event with her quilted purse, a few funky rings, and a fresh, close cut. Don’t forget the pink lip! The dress actually doesn’t bother me because it fits nicely, but the shoes don’t work with it. And with the pink lip…I don’t know, there’s a lot going on. I’ll take the dress, but pass on everything else. Unless that’s a Chanel bag of course!

‘With age comes wisdom,’ or so the saying goes.  But we all know that’s not true.  A lot of things don’t come with age, like a more matured sense of style.  We’re not talking about our friend’s parents either.   Some celebs seem to perpetually be in a “drop it like it’s hot” stage despite qualifying for AARP.  Wearing everything from graphic tees to copious amounts of cleavage, these adults need to grow up and into more appropriate fashion!

Here are seven celebs who need to start dressing their age.

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop Weekly Wrap Up: Ciara, Rihanna, The Kardashians and More

It’s Friday, and while most of us will be using this weekend (and very appealing weather may I add) to show out in our fly-est apparel, a great deal of famous names were doing it big all week long. Then again, being seen is what they get paid for, so they have to look their best. Time to go through each of our favorite or most eye-popping looks from the week and decide who was funky fresh dressed, and who just looked funky.

Look who is trying to change up their style on these streets! Ciara was spotted on the streets of Manhattan on Monday looking more blonde than we’ve seen in the past and in a loose but fancy ensemble. She wore this low cut and long-sleeved top with some cropped black pants (hopefully not harem). On her feet were some black Louboutins, and accessory wise, she went all out with a snazzy gold cuff, a big ring, and multiple chain necklaces. I like the makeup, and the outfit definitely looks comfortable. I will say though that she looks a lot different and that I’m not feeling how she styled her two-toned hair… I’d wear the outfit, but I’d ditch the hair. Reluctant steal.

But the next day, Ci-Ci attended a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden in these light blue pants with a sweater rolled up at the sleeves that matched her bottoms. Love the high-top wedges and accessories, but the outfit as a whole is not moving me, you know? It could possibly be because of the way the pants fit (not too baggy, but not tight), or maybe it’s the combo of the sweater and pants, but it comes off as…blah. Girl, stop. Oh yeah, but the hair does look better here.

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop: Jada, J.Lo, Tyra and More Hot Looks and Hot Messes From This Week

It’s the end of the week and a perfect time to not only evaluate how the week has gone for you, but what fashions were a hit and a miss as well. The ladies were doing it big this week in sequins and sweeping gowns, and we’re going to check it out and figure what is worth stealing, and what ish needs to be stopped. This is the weekly wrap-up!

J.LO had some fun in the sun in Acapulco at the beginning of the week while shooting a new video called “Follow the Leader.” Coincidentally, her new boy toy boo Casper got to try his hand at directing the video. While on the set, Jenny from the block shined on ‘em in uber-tight black pants and a long-sleeved top covered in  what looked like skeleton bone based designs. The mother of two was looking pretty fierce and small in her shiny ensemble, which she topped off with open-toe booties, some ring bling and bangle action, and a very interesting hairdo. For the purposes of video making, it’s cute, but for every day, I’d wear these pieces separately. A reluctant steal for me.

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop: Nicole Richie Making “Fashion Star” Rounds In Colorful Ensembles

If you need to know anything about Nicole Richie, aside from the fact that Lionel Richie is her father, it’s that the girl can dress. Maybe that’s why she was picked to be part of the new NBC show, Fashion Star, which debuted last night. While making the media rounds to promote the show, Richie threw on some bright colors and gave us some fierce-ness all over NYC and L.A. Check out her outfits and tell us if the girl’s looks are steal-worthy, or if she should stop.

While hitting up the show “Extra” with host Mario Lopez on March 9 in L.A., Richie wore this short gold dress with a caftan-like neckline, an embroidered belt, and and some fierce, open-toe, snakeskin heels. The dress was cute and scandalous at the same time thanks to it being above-the-knee. Love the red lip, but the choppy hair? Not so much…Good work with the bangs though! Not too crazy about the look, but I wouldn’t be so quick to say stop…
