Although they broke up and moved on with other people, we just can’t seem to get over these high-profile celebrity relationships that we thought were a match made in heaven. Here are 15 celebrity couples that we wish could have stood the test of time.

Kanye and Alexis

Before there was Kanye West and Kim Kardashian or even Kanye and Amber Rose, there was Kanye and Alexis. The Chicago rapper/producer met Alexis Phifer back in 2002 and the cute couple dated on and off for four years before West finally popped the question. After an 18-month whirlwind engagement the two went their separate ways citing his hectic touring schedule as the cause. West dated then-unknown model Amber Rose before settling down with the reality show superstar who is now pregnant with their first child.

Oprah has chosen a rather interesting subject for her next “Oprah’s Next Chapter” special. After a slew of popular interviews from Lance Armstrong to Cissy Houston and Beyonce, O decided to mix things up a bit by sitting down with the controversial Chelsea Handler. Most know her as a late-night talk show host on E!, others only know of her relationship with 50 Cent, and almost anyone who has seen just 5 minutes of her show certainly knows she has a thing for black males — black male rappers to be specific.

Well, Oprah appears to be peeling the top back on her hardly subtle obsession during next week’s interview, and she’ll specifically ask about 50 Cent and let Chelsea set the record straight — whatever that means. Oprah also plans to ask Chelsea about her talk show, her new boyfriend, millionare André Balazs, who, surprisingly, happens to not be black, her difficult relationship with her father, and how getting a DUI at 21 launched her stand-up career.

Can’t say this special will be one on most of our radars but maybe Oprah will call Chelsea out on the carpet the way she does her guests. What do you think? The interview airs March 10 at 9. Will you watch?

Celebrities seemingly live the good life with millions of adoring fans and millions more in the bank. When tragedy strikes their lives and they unexpectedly lose a loved one, we are reminded that stars are human after all and mourn just like us.

Rapper/singer/actress Queen Latifah suffered a personal loss during the early stages in her rap career. Back in 1992, the Newark native’s world was rocked when her older brother Lancelot was killed while riding the very same motorcycle his famous baby sister recently purchased for him. 20 years after his death, Queen Latifah, still struggles with her grief and said losing her brother “was like suffering an amputation.”

The relationship between Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and Chelsea Handler has been over for quite some time. Yet, people are still somewhat intrigued by it. It could be the odd couple-ish nature of their relationship or even the rumors surrounding what actually caused their break-up. Whatever the case, even with all of the time that has passed since the two went their separate ways, the media is still questioning them about the fling and break-up.

50 Cent recently paid shock jock, Howard Stern a visit. During the interview, 50 confirmed that his split from Handler had everything to do with his former flame, Ciara. The way 50 tells the story, Cici was upset to learn that he was dating Chelsea and made somewhat of a fuss about it prior to her appearance on Chelsea Lately.  50 expressed to Stern that he attempted to warn Chelsea ahead of time of possible tension. This infuriated Handler.

“Wouldn’t you want to tell someone that? How do you treat that if you had something from your past?” 50 expressed to Stern.

January of last year, Chelsea first spilled the beans to Stern regarding the love triangle.

“It was so dumb. it’s almost embarrassing. I really can’t remember the exact the details, but I’ll tell you what I can remember. I think one of his ex-girlfriends was coming on my show and she’s one of those singers -I can’t remember her name. She’s really hot. He was dating her I guess previous to me.

Right before Anguilla, Ciara–that’s her name!–was coming on the show, and he called me to tell me something about her like she still calls him all the time, and she still tells him that she loves him or something. And I’m at my job, and I go “Curtis, honestly this is like eighth grade Shyte. Why are you telling me this?  This girl is coming on the show tomorrow, and now I have to look at her and think you guys have some weird thing going on or had going on.”  It was so juvenile. I’m at my work and I work my A$$ off all the time, and I have million different things and even though it’s not like important work, I am working hard. I’m doing Shyte. He said, “I want you to hear this conversation” and he was like calling someone like a 3-way phone call. I go, “So you’re telling me this girl wants to get back together with you, but she’s upset that you’re dating me, is that what you’re saying?” He’s like, “Yeah, so I just want you to know when she comes.”

Isn’t it funny how things work out? These two are still blaming Ciara for their break-up, meanwhile Cici appears to be happily in love with someone new.

Ciara was spotted fresh faced while making her way through LAX Airport earlier this week, just hours after she wrapped up an interview on Power 106.

Earlier that day, she sat down with Big Boy’s Neighborhood to promote her upcoming album but Big Boy had other things on his agenda to talk about.  He grilled her on her former relationship with 50 Cent and why they were no longer together.  He also wanted to know a few key things like whether or not Chelsea Handler was the reason that she and 50 broke up and whether the story Chelsea told on Howard Stern about Ciara stalking 50 Cent had any truth.

This rumor shouldn’t be all that surprising given who we’re talking about but for tact’s sake I hope it’s not true. Apparently Chelsea Handler, known as the E! host of “Chelsea Lately” and “After Lately;” better known as the rapper obsessed “comedienne” who was all too happy to be sleeping with 50 Cent, is writing yet another book. Titled 50 Shades of  Chartreuse: This Time It’s Personal, the book is supposed to be a parody of the hit erotic novel 50 Shades of Grey. Anyone who has read this book knows it might as well be called “50 Shades of Sex,” and if Chelsea is recreating it on her own acquired comedic taste way, it’s safe to assume there will be lots of sex. And with the readily available play on 50 Cent’s moniker, I’m sure she won’t resist includng details of their time between the sheets.

In a press release for the book, Chelsea commented, ”This sounds to me like one big wiki leak,” and the personal life section of her Wikipedia page definitely has the makings of an interesting book.

“In 2006, Handler began dating Ted Harbert, who oversaw E! Entertainment Television as the former CEO of Comcast Entertainment Group. On January 25, 2010, Handler confirmed, via her late-night talk show, that she had broken up with Harbert. On the July 19, 2010 episode of her show, Handler confirmed she was dating animal trainer and television producer Dave Salmoni. However, on September 2, 2010, when asked by guest Melanie Brown if she was single, Handler stated that she was. Later that year, she began dating rapper 50 Cent for a couple months.

“In 2010, a sex tape of Chelsea Handler was reportedly being offered for sale. This tape was a copy of Handler’s audition tape from the 1990′s. Handler has stated she added the sex scenes to her audition tape to appear as if she had accidentally taped over her homemade sex tape, and has been showing the tape at parties “for years.” On the April 18, 2011 episode of Chelsea Lately, Handler announced to the audience that she was dating again, and at the end of the show revealed a photo of herself and Andre Balazs at a table. However, when interviewed on E! News and Piers Morgan Tonight on May 10, 2011, she declined to confirm that she and Balazs were together and stated that she was respecting her current boyfriend’s privacy because he had children. Then, on the November 9, 2011 episode of her show, Handler revealed that she had broken up with Balazs. In the May 2012 issue of More, Handler revealed that she and Balazs were back together but it was reported a few months later that the couple had called it off once again. “

So, sleeping with your boss boyfriend to get a show, dating a rapper with ex-girlfriend drama, a sex tape, and an on again-off again relationship. Sounds like a book opportunity to me — if you’re the kiss and tell type, which she clearly is. When Chelsea broke up with 50 Cent she was quick to relay the details of how they got together, and even more proud of calling him the “worst thing you could say to a black person short of calling him the N-word” when they broke up. The book won’t hit shelves until next October so I guess 50 and his manhood have some time to prep before the big reveal, although I’m not sure the public really wants to get all up in this odd couple’s bedroom booming like that.

There’s something about Chelsea Handler that I find partially annoying but for the most part just not funny. In stark contrast for her affinity for black men, particularly rappers, she has a special place in her heart for trying to keep the stereotypical black girl meme going and it’s really not a good look.

The other night she went on a tirade about wanting to find a new “black lady friend” and the commentary went something like this:

“As I mentioned yesterday, Tracy Lately is looking for some new friends, not that I don’t like the ones I have, I’m just looking for better ones. In particular, I am looking for a new Black lady friend.  I don’t want to make it a racial thing, bu the last Black girlfriend I had robbed me. I tried to be friends with Lonnie Love but during a recent slumber party, she ate my chaise lounge. My bad, I should have never purchased a chaise lounge made out of waffles. I recently found a new candidate on the new VH1 dating series, Tough Love New Orleans.”

This is when she cuts to the video clip of her new-found black BFF and continues with:

“This whole thing has got me wondering, why in predominately African-American films is there never a sassy White friend? Tyler Perry, last time I checked, I am White and I am sassy.  Here is my audition: Leave him girlfriend. That man ain’t no good for you b***h. [Insert neck roll and finger snaps.]

I’m pretty sure there was a laugh reel or something going because it just wasn’t that funny. I wasn’t particularly offended, I just felt like I’d seen that before and didn’t really need to see it again because it wasn’t so funny the first time. On Womanist Musings though, Renee Martin didn’t let her off the hook so easily. She wrote:

“I am sick to death of these negative characteristics being treated as the monolithic representative standard of Black womanhood.  I am sick to death of White women perpetuating them as truth, while never acknowledging that these very same tropes benefit them.  It’s all ya ya sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits when they need something, and remember your place when they don’t. Mostly though, I am sick to death of comedians using comedy to justify unleashing bigoted screeds for laughs. If you have to depend upon perpetuating an ism to be perceived as funny, you are not a comedian, you’re a bigot.”

All I have to say about the ghetto black girl axe she continues to grind it, don’t you have better things to do, like visit 50 Cent in the hospital? Oh, and please don’t give Tyler Perry any ideas. The last thing we need is a “Madea Goes to Chelsea Lately.”

How come every time a white woman entertainer feels the need to affirm herself, it is always a person of color who has to bear the brunt of her license of liberation?

Like for instance, last week Madonna took to the airwaves to express her “disappointment” with M.I.A, international electronica-star and rebel rouser.  You see, Madonna was gracious enough to invite M.I.A, along with Nicki Minaj, to engage in a little girl power by being muted (if you count the 30-second “verse” they were allowed to spit), cheerleading bookends to Madge’s awesomeness. However, M.I.A, being the bad girl she is, decided that doing all that wasn’t enough and flipped the bird at the camera.  Tsk, tsk. According to Madonna, who gave her two cents during a conversation with Ryan Seacreast, M.I.A.’s one-finger salute was simply “out of place” at a show characterized by “such a feeling of love and good energy and positivity,” and was totally a “teenager … irrelevant thing to do.”

This is coming from the woman whose claim to fame was using taboo religious imagery in “Like A Prayer,” putting out a book of pornographic self-portraits, gyrating butt naked in the banned from MTV “Justify my Love” video and only a few years ago, engaged in a little tongue action with both Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on a music station known for appealing to young viewers. Likewise, how is a 51-year-old woman bouncing around in cheerleading outfits and pom-poms chastising others about maturity and relevance?  I love Madonna but she truly has some nerve. The queen of shock is policing another woman about how she chooses to be equally daring?  Classic.

But that’s not the only thing I’m irked about. Last week, a friend of mine posted a link on Facebook with Chelsea Handler dishing about her relationship with 50 Cent, particularly the reasons behind why they broke up. According to Handler, 50 had called her wanting her to listen to a conversation with his ex-girlfriend Ciara. She said that 50 said that Ciara wanted to get back with him and he wanted Handler to listen in, and I guess, mock the poor girls pleas for a second chance.

Handler, disgusted by 50’s immaturity, decided that she had enough. But in the mix of her telling him where to go with his childish antics, Handler also let something else out the bag. According to an interview with Howard Stern, Handler said, “I think I called him the worst thing you could say to a black person short of calling him the N-word. I said something like, you’re like a street person basically. Something along the lines of being a gangster, and it was really, really offensive and I hung up and I’ve never spoken to him again.” This was followed by a laugh.

When pressed about what exactly she said that wasn’t quite “n*****” but just as bad, Handler said she couldn’t remember but said that she said something like that. “I said, ‘You have no business even talking to someone like me, and it was very mean.’”

Everyone’s been talking about Chelsea Handler opening up about her relationship with 50 Cent on Howard Stern but Nick Cannon wasn’t hearing none of that. The proud father and husband was more concerned with what Chelsea had to say about his wife, Mariah Carey. She told Howard:

“Anyone who’s married to Mariah Carey I’m sure doesn’t have a great sense of humor. Shes’ ridiculous. What is her game plan? What kind of person operates like that? She’s worse than like Elizabeth Taylor. She’s just so ridiculous with her body. You see her one day and she’s 50 pounds heavier or light…there’s nothing real about her and her Hello Kitty or whatever.

Nick Cannon actually does have a sense of humor but not when it comes to jokes about Mimi. He unleashed on twitter with this:

“I hear @ChelseaHandler is out there talking s*** about my wife again! She’s lucky I’m trying to live right now! Jesus my cup runneth over.

I think @ChelseaHandler is still bitter that she got blasted on my radio show! It’s okay I still love you! When miserable people see happiness they must attack it. You know me, I’m always up for a good joke or wise crack but when people talk about my family the ‘Hood’ in me wants to come out! I’ve learned cooler heads prevail. Life is too short to focus on negativity!”

I love the “Jesus my cup runneth over” part. Great to see a man have his wife’s back, go Nick!
