Man Making Moves: Theophilus London Featured in Vogue, GQ and BlackBook
Trinidad native and Brooklyn-raised rapper, Theophilus London, has been putting in WORK when it comes to the fashion world. The Marvin Gaye and Prince influenced rapper’s music game is tight, but apparently his style game is tighter. On his current single, “I Stand Alone,” Theophilus croons, ”The clothes don’t make the man, it’s the man that makes the clothes.” This statement could not be more true. Not one to shy away from funky hats, bold jewelry or tight trousers, this early icon has reinvented typical male attire. He also plans to debut a jewelry and clothing line in the near future.
The eccentric MC has caught the attention of BlackBook magazine, GQ and Vogue simultaneously as he has been featured in their November issues. BlackBook provides him with a platform to illustrate his ’70s influenced style. GQ taps him to showcase the return of the stylish camel coat, and in Vogue, he models the designs of Carlos Campos, one of 10 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists (finalist Joseph Altuzarra won the grand prize).
If you’re interested in more than his style, check out his latest album, Timez Are Weird These Days and his song “Neighbors,” featured on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Pt. 1 soundtrack.
