Thank God You Got Rid Of Those Cornrows! Celebrities Who Look Better Without The Braids
Many celebrities have rocked cornrows at some point in their careers; some for years and others for days. Although some of these stars may have looked good in their braided ‘dos, we were generally happy to see the hairstyle go. With that, the purpose of this list is not to say that all fifteen of these celebrities looked bad with cornrows (although some definitely did); it’s just that, in our opinion, they look better without them. Agree?
Lloyd
Admittedly, Lloyd wasn’t bad looking with his cornrows; they even complemented his persona back when he was singing songs like “Southside” and “Get It Shawty.” But now that he’s grown up a bit in the industry and is singing songs like “Lay It Down” and “Dedication To My Ex,” it’s definitely more appropriate that his image be cornrow-free.
The Fashion Jury’s In: Zoe Saldana Has Style!
While the jury is still out on whether or not actress Zoe Saldana is a suitable fit to play the role as legendary singer Nina Simone in the biopic Nina, we can certainly swing the gavel and call to order that this talented Jersey girl gets glam like the best of them. Although she has been found guilty of a few red carpet mishaps—like the unpopular purple poofy Givenchy number she wore to the 2010 Oscars—she continues to hit the red carpet fashionably poised while serving up incredibly fierce looks. And just as we love to see her vamp it up and get glamorous—from show-stopping gowns to sassy sequin shifts, we adore catching glimpses of the fresh face beauty and her casual chic style when off-duty. With the Emmys just a week away, (providing she attends) we can’t wait to see what this Dominican-Puerto Rican beauty will be delivering up on the red carpet. In the meantime, let’s get into a few of our favorite looks from the stylish, Zoe Saldana.
Celebs Who Won In The Style Category At The BET Awards
The stars of Black Hollywood were aligned last night in Los Angeles at the 2012 BET Awards. With Samuel L. Jackson at the helm, the best in the business got to party on one of music’s biggest nights. Kanye West took the stage, D’Angelo returned sounding better than ever, and Cissy Houston delivered an emotional gospel tribute to her fallen star, Whitney Houston. Glam gowns like Bey‘s and Mariah‘s seemed to be the look of the night, but La La Anthony and Monica rocked out in pants just as lovely.
Not only was the show one of the most enjoyable nights in BET Awards history, it was also one of the most stylish.

Oh, The Faux Pas! Celebrities Who Need To Fire Their Stylists
You ever heard the saying “money can’t buy you taste?” I often was reminded of that as I watched Mary J. Blige come up in the game. As she became more and more famous, it was clear that her fashion sense couldn’t keep up. Today, Ms. Blige has found her stride when it comes to her style (hey, she’s been in the game nearly 20 years so she has little excuse).
These days, there’s no excuse for a celeb to look consistently bad. Why? Because they have stylists to do all their shopping, curating and dressing for them. The average person has nobody but herself so what gives with some of these celebs? We’ve included just a few of the fashion violaters out there. Mind you, we can’t include folks like Lil Kim cuz she’s beyond help as well all know.
Christina Aguilera
I honestly can’t remember the last time I looked at Christina Aguilera and thought, that’s a pretty girl. Oh yeah, I do. It was about the time that her first hit single Genie In A Bottle came out. She was the posterchild for cute and talented circa 1999. But when it her second album came out, it was obvious that Aguilera was embracing the dirty, trashy look. Since then, she hasn’t managed to look classy at all. I mean, EVER. A stylist is supposed to save you from embarrassing yourself, not push your own convoluted interpretations of style to the limits. I often think that when Aguilera was interviewing stylists, she just hired the person who most agreed with the fact that the look she was sporting in “Dirty” was chic. Not only does she need to fire her stylist but she also needs a beauty expert to correct that overly blonde and ratty hair.
