Shop the Cause: 9 Beautifiers Benefiting Breast Cancer Research
October is a month filled with many things to look forward to. Some anticipate weather fit for drinking those newly-returned pumpkin spice lattes. Others have already begun to prepare their Halloween costumes (Animal ears and leggings worn as pants? Check!). But for 1 out of 8 women, it’s a month dedicated to awareness of a disease they presently possess, or, if they’re lucky, have beaten. That’s right, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is upon us and it’s time to think pink and positive!
Remember, little things can make a big difference! We’ve rounded up ten spectacular products by brands that are keen on supporting the search for a cure and a woman’s right to pamper herself. Jennifer Hudson To Pay Tribute To Whitney At Grammy’s
In honor of Whitney Houston, who passed away suddenly on the eve of the Grammy Awards Saturday February 11th at the age of 48, Jennifer Hudson is scheduled to perform a special tribute for her during the awards show.
Though some of the Grammy plans had to be altered to pay tribute to Whitney, there was some that went on as planned in remembrance of her. Her longtime mentor Clive Davis went ahead with his annual concert at the same hotel where her body was found. He dedicated the evening to her and asked for a moment of silence as a photo of the singer, hands wide open, looking to the sky, appeared on the screen.
Houston had been at rehearsals for the show Thursday, coaching singers Brandy and Monica, according to a person who was at the event but was not authorized to speak publicly about it. Two days ago, she performed at a pre-Grammy party with singer Kelly Price.
In a statement, Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow said Houston “was one of the world’s greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades.”
“Her powerful voice graced many memorable and award-winning songs,” Portnow said. “A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice.”
A Tribute To Whitney Houston: ‘I Will Always Love You’
Picture It: Brooklyn, New York. 1986. Unity Catholic School. The stage? My 1st grade class.
This was the year I “met” Whitney and she changed my life. At the end of every school day, my teacher Mrs. Eversley would ask if there was anyone who wanted to perform in front of the class. Perhaps there were others who did but at this point I don’t remember; what I do know is that almost every day, without fail, I sang “The Greatest Love of All.” Though I don’t remember their names or faces now, I even had two back-up singers. The entire point is that Whitney Houston and her voice practically changed my life. Whitney made me feel like I could sing (my teacher never stopping me from my almost daily performance didn’t hurt either).

If you’re still looking to be that edgy chick that gets all the compliments for her lipstick choices, it’s time to be ready and willing to kiss off the apricot and blush reds, and see how daring your smackers can really be this year.
