If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve noticed that relationship advice is everywhere. In television shows, in books, on this site and even in church, everybody has something to say about what you should be doing in your relationship. Some of it can be valuable, depending on the source; but in most instances, the relationship advice we get from the media (and people easily influenced by the media) ranks somewhere on the ridiculousness meter. The most blatant examples of terrible relationship advice come from a lot of women’s favorite form of media: romantic comedies. Don’t believe me? Check out some of these examples…
She may be a new mom, but a being newlywed is not on her to do list.
Actress, Nia Long recently addressed the rumor that her and boyfriend NBA player Ime Udoka jumped the broom. She states that the rumors are false and “Marriage is not a priority,” . In an ESSENCE.com exclusive she further comments that “We’re happy, I’m happy, the kids are fantastic.”
Long further explains why she wore the rumored engagement rings: “I wear five diamond bands. Each have a special meaning,” she wrote. “My dedication to Jesus Christ, My dedication to my eldest son Massai. My dedication to sweet baby Kez. My dedication to love, my love. My dedication to womanhood and self love.”

As sad as Boyz n the Hood was for me, it’s a must see not only because it’s a classic, but because of Morris Chestnut’s fine behind! His first film role had the ladies swooning (and crying at his ending on screen), and since then, the hot factor has just increased with age. He’s a throwback hottie because everyone’s big sisters and even mothers were checking for Chestnut, but the question is, are you still checking for him now? Ashanti once sang, “I wanna be like those girls in the movies, to have a man so in love it makes him drop to his knees.” And who can really blame the girl?
