We told you late last week that when asked on Twitter if she would be joining season five of “Basketball Wives LA,” Evelyn Lozada made it clear that she had moved past that stage in her life and wanted no parts of the show or the franchise in general.
“I was given an offer, but declined. Just not a good fit for my life, I’ve moved on.”
But the show is still a good fit for Tami Roman, who is officially making the jump from Miami to LA.
Roman confirmed that she is indeed going to show up and show out for the upcoming season after arriving at an event for “Basketball Wives LA” star Malaysia Pargo late last month.
“The people have been wanting to see myself, Evelyn, and Shaunie back on TV. We can’t leave them wanting more. When they asked me to be a part of the situation, I said, ‘Let me get back in there because people are familiar with me from ‘Basketball Wives.’ I’m just here to get to know the ladies. People associate me with being 100 percent real. I’m completely transparent at all times, so I think that’s what their particular version of ‘Basketball Wives’ is missing. Somebody to just come in and give the real. I’m here to just talk to the girls, get to know them, and find out what’s really going on. Get all the tea.
When asked who she is bonding with so far, Roman says she’s open to getting to know everyone.
“I don’t use the term friends lightly, so I don’t necessarily know that I’ll be best friends with everybody. My main focus here is to get to know everybody. Bring the Tami to the cast. Finding out what’s going and help them hopefully be 100 with each other. I’m not here to start drama. I’m not here to cause any problems. It’s[sic] just here to get them to to be able relate to each other and kind of incorporate some of the things from our installment in Miami. We have issues but we’re able to talk about them and get through them. I think that the LA installment was missing that person that could kind of help navigate them through some of their issues.
But when she was asked how she’s dealing with Jackie Christie, who some feels is a manipulative bully at times on the show, Roman was quick to defend the BBWLA vet, because they’re very similar.
“I think that after you cross the age of 18, ‘bully’ isn’t really the proper term. As adults, everybody has the opportunity to stand up for themselves and speak their mind. Stand for something or fall for anything. I think with Jackie, she’s been a poignant personality on this particular installment, as I have been on mine. I’m just here, yet again, to make sure the girls understand that you can have differences. You can agree to disagree. But we’re all grown. We’re all over 18. I hate that term in the context of grown women. We’re disagreeing, and now we’ve gotta get to a point where we can agree to disagree.”
Anywho, the cast (aside from Draya Michele and former cast member Sundy Carter) was recently spotted on a trip to Puerto Rico where they shot scenes for the show. Roman was snapped kicking it with Jackie Christie and “boss lady” Shaunie O’Neal, while the rest of the ladies posted images of themselves enjoying all that PR has to offer. Check out some of the images for yourself, as well as Roman’s interview about what you can expect from her in LA.
Two years ago when Evelyn Lozada bailed on the “Basketball Wives Miami” reunion, we figured that she was pretty much through with the franchise.
“When the show was ending, I told my publicist and just talking to my family, ‘I don’t want to do the reunion, I don’t want to talk about my relationship anymore,’ Lozada said back in 2013. “I decided not to do the reunion and then right after that is when I found out I was pregnant. So I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ I didn’t want to unveil the bump on the reunion.”
Though it seems that “Basketball Wives Miami” is a done deal, spin-off “Basketball Wives LA” lives on. Interestingly, VH1 producers made one last attempt to include Lozada in the franchise. At least that’s what the mom and wife-to-be told fans on Twitter last night when asked if she’d be appearing in the upcoming season of the LA spin-off; especially since she’s now living in Los Angeles.

Sooooo many sweet tweets from everyone! Thank you for still being here through the good & the bad! BBW would be nothing without the fans.

Do you think you’ll be tuning in to the upcoming season or are you over it?
“BBWLA” Star Brandi Maxiell Talks Battling And Beating Ovarian Cancer And The Infertility Issues That Came With It
This month, in order to spread more awareness to our community about ovarian cancer, MadameNoire is speaking to several ovarian cancer survivors about their journeys.
We first spoke to BreAnne Middleton and LaTrisha Reid. Now we’re chatting with Brandi Maxiell, reality star, wife and mother. At the age of 24 she was diagnosed with cancer and struggled as her health and body went through the wringer. Maxiell was declared cancer free in 2008 and thought it would be smooth sailing from there. But the reality star says that her body still was going through turmoil nearly two years later, and she struggled with infertility issues. Now 30, Maxiell has overcome a lot, kept her faith and positive outlook and has good health and her son (whom she calls her “miracle baby,” born in 2011) to show for it. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition spokesperson shared her journey with us and inspiring words for women battling with ovarian cancer, or any cancer, for our “Survivor Series.”
MN: Could You Describe What That Day Was Like When You Found Out You Had Ovarian Cancer?
Maxiell: I was 24 and I was stage 1C, I believe.
I was devastated because it was something that I…I was healthy. I’m healthy. My family’s healthy, everybody’s healthy so it was something that was new to me. It was kind of like I was in a movie. ‘Are you serious right now? Cancer? Not me!’ It just didn’t really hit me or register. I just really thought it wasn’t true.
I had got engaged and I wanted to stay with my husband for a year, live with him and see how things were and all these things. But I started planning my wedding after I got cancer because it was like, let’s just do this thing. Let’s get married. It was kind of like one of those things where we were like, what are we waiting on?
MN: Did You Have Any Symptoms Or Pain Beforehand That Let You Know Something Was Wrong?
Maxiell: I had every symptom. I had back pains and I went to the doctor and they told me it was just back pains, so they gave me medicine for it. But after I was taking the medicine for it I was like, my back still hurts. My stomach? I was bloated. It looked like I was four or five months pregnant. I was huge! I had to use the bathroom like every five seconds. Sometimes I wouldn’t even make it to the bathroom. I would have to pee and then I would pee in the bed and be so embarrassed because my fiancée, my husband now, was like ‘This is embarrassing.’ It was just crazy. I was like, ‘what’s going on inside of my body?’
MN: After You Got The News, What Did You Do Next?
Maxiell: When I got the news, I knew my blood levels were crazy so I did every research possible, but they knew it was cancer. They just didn’t know what stage I was in. For like a week after I got the news I was in fear for my life because they knew something was wrong and they had to do immediate surgery. I literally thought–you know when you think of cancer, you think of death. I was thinking, ‘what the hell did I do with my life to deserve this? What’s going on? What are you telling me? What are you asking me? What do you need?’ Because it was like, how did I get this? I didn’t know if it spread or if it did anything until I got the surgery.
I remember my mom telling me that she was praying really hard. She said ‘I spoke to God and he wanted me to know that everything is going to be okay. He’s going to let you know that everything’s okay.’ I remember having that surgery and my mom wrote in her journal, she said, ‘when you came out of surgery the first thing you said was, Mom I spoke to God and he let me know that everything was okay.’ And I was like, ‘that’s crazy! I didn’t say that.’ I do remember feeling like everything was okay, but I went into surgery so tensed up so scared for my life.
MN: I Know You Said You Had Side Effects And Your Body Went Through Hell During Treatment. Could You Elaborate?
Maxiell: I had every possible thing wrong with me. With the cancer, after the surgery, I had blood clots and I passed out. I went to the hospital and they said I had blood clots in my lungs. I had to deal with that. I had to deal with chemotheraphy, blood clots, dealing with the right medicine to take and what not to take. Then I had bad side effects to the chemotherapy once I was done with it. My body was out of wack, even after I was cured, for about a year and a half or two. And then the fertility issues came about.
MN: How Did It Feel When You Found Out You Were Cancer Free After All That?
Maxiell: I knew that I was going to overcome the cancer. When I was done with it we had a party. We all went out and hung out and I probably shouldn’t of done it, but I went crazy. I let my hair–well, I didn’t have no hair [laughs]. But I was free. It was just a freeing moment. I was just so happy and felt like I could live my life. I feel like when I have something going on in my life I dedicate my time and my energy to just that. And I felt like I dedicated a lot of energy to the cancer so I could get well, so it was such a struggle. I was so weak. I could barely get out of bed. I could barely eat. But when they said I was done, I think that was the happiest that I’ve ever been in my entire life.
MN: What Advice Would You Offer Women Suffering With Infertility, Whether Due To Cancer Or Not?
Maxiell: I would say to hang in there. I know the struggle. I’m still dealing with it because I want a second child, but I postponed that. But dealing with the whole issue and not knowing, you worry. But the more that you worry, the more that you let stuff get to you, the more that you let things bother you, that’s a health risk in itself. You have to be careful and have positive energy or it all will really wear on your body. And for any woman who can’t get pregnant whether they have cancer or not, there are other options. Of course I want my second child, but I’m so blessed that I have my first baby. So if my doctor says that I can’t have my second child biologically, I can adopt. There are other options.
MN: Have You Forgiven Sundy Carter [Of “BBWLA”] For Comments About Your Struggle To Get Pregnant?
Maxiell: I don’t think about Sundy. There’s nothing to think about. I don’t even want to talk about her. There’s nothing to…I mean, I let go of everything.
MN: Who Was Your Biggest Supporter Through The Whole Grueling Process?
Maxiell: My mom was my biggest supporter. My husband, who was my fiance at the time, was a big supporter. But my mom suffered from that situation probably more than I did. Watching her, I thought I really needed to get well for her. To sit and watch my mom in so much pain, it was just heartbreaking. No mother should have to see their child go through what I went through–not knowing what was going to happen or the future. When I was cancer free, so was she.
MN: How Has Your Journey Changed You?
Maxiell: It changed me because it taught me to live life to the fullest and live every day like it’s your last. You never know what tomorrow will bring. You never know what can be taken from you and I think a lot of people take that for granted.
“Weak A** Ni**a”: Draya Michele Blasts Boyfriend Orlando Scandrick For Publicly Flirting With A Woman On Instagram
Basketball Wives star Draya Michele has been riding pretty hard for boyfriend Orlando Scandrick of the Dallas Cowboys since last year. When they filmed the most recent season of BBWLA, she defended him and his character against crazy Jackie Christie and her daughter, Chantel, and just this past May, she thanked him and his two daughters for making her a better mother and a better person.
“Orlando : you added to my load but I want you to know that I love those little girls and I take pride in putting home cooked meals on those tinkerbell plates, brushing up that hair and doing finger curls, painting those toenails, and buying pink and purple of the tiniest little clothes. I taught those girls how to swim last weekend and I love our family. Thanks for giving me the experience of helping you with your babies.”
But now, she’s putting him on blast. Scandrick posted the very adorable picture above, which is of his twin daughters kicking back and watching television. According to Bossip (who has pictures to back up everything), the follower of the footballer joked and commented on the picture saying, “I wanna play with them.” Scandrick boldly responded to her saying “you can babysit and play with as long as you want.”
Yeah. Kind of inappropriate.
Draya reportedly saw this and calmly put both Scandrick and the follower on front street (as I like to say):
“soon you’ll be able to … @oscandrick32 invite her over”
“Watch this weak h*e be on mediatakeout tomorrow’
“With a weak a** ni**a”
Scandrick went ahead and deleted the picture to avoid the drama, but it’s a little too late for all that. All this occurred as rumors were flying about whether or not the couple had broken up due to Scandrick stepping out on the beauty. But Draya told TMZ the other day that her relationship is still going strong. “I am not single, I’m damn near married. I’m good. I’m happy.”
Hey, maybe she’s forgiven and forgotten! For now…
First she added a little length to her skirts, now she’s getting rid of her signature boobs.
“Basketball Wives LA” star Draya Michele recently announced to fans that she’ll be having surgery to reduce her breast size in September. While women get breast reductions all of the time, what’s interesting about Draya deciding to shrink her girls is that she actually paid to get them that size in the first place. Nevertheless, the reality star seems to have mentally outgrown them.
“Saying bye bye to my ‘girls’ in September,” Draya tweeted yesterday evening.
It appears that she’s going under the knife in the name of fashion, as well as her newfound quest to look more “natural.” According to Draya, her large breast give her a “skanky” look that she’s no longer going for.
“I’m tired of these boobs making everything look all skanky all the time,” she added. “Flat a** and chest makes clothes look better, girls. And take it from me, this fake tidday phase is outta style.”
“I like natural boobs like Rihanna’s.”
Since the last season of “Basketball Wives LA,” we’ve witnessed Draya sort of take on somewhat of a new identity and express desires to present herself as “wife material.”
What are your thoughts on her decision?

Basketball Wives LA star Malaysia Pargo recently decided to file for divorce from her husband and the father of her three kids, Jannero Pargo, after telling viewers of the show that he had cheated at one point. Her people sent a statement to us earlier this week letting the world know that despite this difficult time, they want to put their children first:
“Our family is our top priority and while we have decided to amicably go our separate ways, we ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. We are both committed parents and plan to remain friends as we co-parent our three children. At this time we do not wish to discuss the details of our divorce. “
And just as quick as the two announced the end of their marriage, a source told HipHollywood that Pargo had started seeing Mase of all people, who has been separated from his wife Twyla for two years, and is in the process of his own divorce as well. They said this:
“They’ve been dating for about two months. She really likes him and they really connect on a spiritual level. They’ve been spending a lot of time together.”
But Pargo took to Instagram to make it clear that she’s single as a dollar bill, and not looking for anything at this time but a stronger relationship with God. Though she does find Mase attractive…
“I’m not dating anyone but GOD…but Mase you cute tho”
So nothing going on between them as of right now…but how cute would they be in the future? Okay, okay, let me stop.
Unfortunately, another offense has been added to Sundy Carter’s criminal rap sheet. According to E!, the “Basketball Wives LA” star has been arrested on DUI charges.
The Glendale Police Department confirmed today that Carter was pulled over after allegedly crossing a double yellow line in her vehicle; driving westbound in an eastbound traffic lane. The incident happened on Tuesday during the wee hours of the morning. After being pulled over, the mother of three was asked to give a blood or breath sample. She decided to give a breath sample. The test revealed that her BAC was .18 percent. Mind you, the legal limit is .08 percent.
She was arrested and booked on DUI charges. LAPD sources say that she was released later that day after posting $10,000 bail. The controversial reality star is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow morning regarding the charges.
Representatives on behalf of Carter have yet to comment on her arrest.
Over the weekend news broke that Basketball Wives cast member Malaysia Pargo has filed for divorce from her husband of eight years, Charlotte Bobcats’ player Jannero Pargo. Unbeknownst to most, Malaysia and Jannero had actually been separated since December 2012, with the reality TV star only recently filing formal divorce docs in L.A. County Superior court citing irreconcilable differences. Almost as soon as this news was released, rumors starting coming out of the woodwork about Malaysia being romantically involved with rapper-turned-preacher Mason Betha, a.k.a. Mase, and upon hearing that news we had to reach out to the soon-to-be-ex Mrs. Pargo to see what the deal is.
Though her publicist wouldn’t speak on the dating rumors, we did receive this statement confirming the split:
“Our family is our top priority and while we have decided to amicably go our separate ways, we ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. We are both committed parents and plan to remain friends as we co-parent our three children. At this time we do not wish to discuss the details of our divorce.”
According to TMZ, Malaysia is seeking sole legal and physical custody of her and Jannero’s 7-year-old and 3-year-old twins, allowing visitation for him. She’s also requesting spousal support and coverage of her legal fees throughout the divorce proceedings. Here’s hoping this won’t turn into a bitter custody battle.
“I Love Our Family”: Draya Michele Speaks On How Her Son, Boyfriend Orlando And His Daughters Have Changed Her
In case you missed it, earlier this week, to honor Mother’s Day, reality star Draya Michele wrote a beautiful message on Instagram about growing as a mother, and the impact that her son, her boyfriend Orlando Scandrick, and his two little girls have had on her. When we first had the chance to get to know the Basketball Wives LA star, she was being dogged by her cast mates during the first season for mistakes she made as a young mother while raising her son Kniko. But she says that she’s come a long way, and she has her new “family” to thank for that.
“These kids are my life…. I didn’t start out knowing everything about being the best mother, I had to learn as I go.. I know now that I have an exceptional son, who gets good grades, is healthy, and ambitious, loves soccer and school. And Orlando : you added to my load but I want you to know that I love those little girls and I take pride in putting home cooked meals on those tinkerbell plates, brushing up that hair and doing finger curls, painting those toenails, and buying pink and purple of the tiniest little clothes. I taught those girls how to swim last weekend and I love our family. Thanks for giving me the experience of helping you with your babies.”
Draya and Orlando Scandrick have been dating for a little over a year now, and when asked by Arsenio Hall if she thought she would want to spend the rest of her life with him, she said “I do!” She definitely seems happy, and ready to put all her energy into her new family. Now all needs now is to leave that BBWLA foolishness alone…
Reality TV has its pluses and its minuses. And according to “Basketball Wives LA” rookie Sundy Carter, one of the minuses from her debut season on the series is that it placed a huge strain on her relationship.
“It’s very stressful, the show just kinda takes over your entire life,” Sundy recently told The Jasmine Brand. “You dream about it, you wake up thinking about it. It’s a lot to deal with when you have to get up and actually prepare to go in and you don’t know what your’e actually going into. Its kind of like the lion’s den and so all you hear about is ‘Basketball Wives,’ its like that’s all you hear about in the house and nobody really wants to hear that all day, so that would probably be just it.”
Speaking of relationships, Sundy also says that her situation with her daughter has drastically improved.
“It’s gotten better, definitely gotten better,” she said. “I was very surprised, actually, with the show and I didn’t know what kind of impact the show would have on the kids. And it actually brought us closer, so I’m really happy about that.”
As for what she thinks is the biggest misconception floating around about her is:
“I think the biggest misconception would be that I am this evil devil, cruel, cold-hearted, snake in the grass kind of woman and I’m just not. I’m a sweetheart, I’m very loving, caring.”
She also discussed being publicly scolded by executive producer Shaunie O’Neal for the comments she made about co-star Brandi Maxiell.
“I wasn’t surprised when she made that statement. I felt like she’s the executive producer so you do owe the audience an explanation that’s watching your show.”
