“I Love Ray”: NFL Star Ray Rice And Wife Speak On Trying To Make Things Work After Violent Fight And Assault Charges
We told you in February about NFL star Ray Rice getting into a fight with his then-fiancée, Janay Palmer, in a casino in Atlantic City. Surveillance cameras reportedly caught the couple hitting each other, and they were arrested and charged with simple assault and domestic violence that night. But soon after the ugly situation happened, footage came out from that same evening, showing Rice dragging his unconscious spouse out of an elevator in the casino as if she was a rag doll, and dropping her like one. It was a scary scene that made many people think Palmer would leave that relationship behind, but she didn’t. After the whole thing happened, Palmer married Rice despite the charges, and he was able to avoid serving jail time by agreeing to go through a year-long intervention program. And now that everything has played out in court, it seems that Mr. and Mrs. Rice are ready to move forward and work on their relationship and sustaining their family (they have a daughter named Rayven).
In an actual press conference on Friday at Rice’s team training complex, the Baltimore Ravens running back owned up to his mistakes, and Palmer did as well.
Rice’s statements include the following:
“Throughout this time, we really had the time to reflect on each other. One thing [is] that we were blessed to work it out together. [Everybody] knows [no] relationship is perfect, but me and Janay together, what counseling has done for us – we want the world to see that it definitely did help us out. I pride myself on … My job is a very prideful job – the NFL – and I’m blessed to be playing at the highest level of sports. But the job that I did was more than scoring touchdowns. It was getting out into the community. It was helping out. So, when all of you [saw] this come upon [us], this thing [that] happened with me and my wife, everybody questioned what happened. One thing I can say is that sometimes in life, you will fail. But I won’t call myself a failure. Failure is not getting knocked down; it’s not getting up.
I know many of my supporters, sponsors who have acted as so do not want to be in partnership with me – that’s my fault. That’s my fault. I take full responsibility for that. One thing that I do know is that I am working every day to be a better father, a better husband and just a better role model. My daughter [Rayven, 2 years old] left the [press conference] room, and the best thing I have to do is be a role model for her throughout everything. My wife is here, and I just want to thank her for loving me where I was weak and building up where I was strong throughout this whole situation.”
As for Palmer, she made this brief statement:
“First, I want to say thank you to all of those who have supported us throughout this situation. I do deeply regret the role that I played in the incident that night, but I can say that I am happy that we continue to work through it together, and we are continuing to strengthen our relationship and our marriage and do what we have to do for not only ourselves collectively, but individually, and working on being better parents for Rayven and continue to be good role models for the community like we were doing before this. I love Ray, and I know that he will continue to prove himself to not only you all, but [to] the community, and I know he will gain your respect back in due time. So thank you.”
While this is all well and good for them, in the full transcript for the press conference, I noticed that Rice apologized to everyone in public…but his wife, and that she mostly spoke in a manner to let his fans and sponsors know that if she can move on, they can too. I hope this will be the first and last scary incident these two will have, because people CAN change, but I don’t know if they can this quick…
Today might mark the start of New York Fashion Week but it’s also the beginning of the 2013-2014 NFL season. The Baltimore Ravens will face off against the Denver Broncos tonight in the first game of the season. Regardless of whether you are a football fan or not, we’re pretty certain you can appreciate these physically fit men on and off the field which is why we’ve compiled a list of the 15 Finest NFL Players of the 2013-2014 Season.
There are some names who are perennial all-stars, some who excelled in their position, and even some who didn’t excel too well off the field. Last year, Washington Redskins rookie QB Robert Griffin III had it all. His play with the Washington Redskins energized the city, captured him a few endorsement deals, and landed him on his share of highlight reels. This slideshow spotlights the most attractive NFL players who will still make their mark this football season.

Even if you don’t care about football or the fact that the Baltimore Ravens won the Superbowl last night, you have to admit this was a moment not to be missed last night. In the midst of all the hoopla over two brothers rivaling one another on the field, a Superbowl win on the line, and Beyonce’s boom kat kat, Ray Rice took the time to spend a few precious seconds with his little daughter, appropriately named Rayven, to toss around a football and show her what her daddy does for a living. Awwwww.
We just can’t get over the cuteness here. Caption this pic and tell us what you think papa Ray and his little one were discussing on the green.
If you’re not into NFL football, Super Bowl parties or even Beyonce for that matter, Sunday’s big game might not be a highlight for you, but the multi-million dollar commercial advertisements might be!
You might have already seen a few ads here or there gearing up for the Super Bowl between the Baltimore Ravens and San Fransisco 49ers and the record-breaking audience it will receive, including Beyonce’s Pepsi ad for her sponsored halftime show, but there are many more to come. From big household names like Toyota to smaller, but well-established products like Mio drinks, we are anticipating some of the biggest Super Bowl commercials ready to premiere this coming Sunday evening. Are you?
In case you didn’t know, there’s a little football game on Sunday, and it’s sort of a big deal. But for those of you who could care less about the teams battling it out on the field — we know some of you are just tuning in for Beyonce’s halftime performance and the commercials — you may be interested in the eye candy this year’s Super Bowl has to offer.
That’s right, there are certainly a good number of gorgeous men on the gridiron. But San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis are more than a little easy on the eyes. Kaepernick has made quite the name for himself among a brilliant class of rookies including Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III. And although he’s on the brink of retirement, veteran player Ray Lewis still dominates on the field after an already impressive career.
These two aren’t only entertaining to watch, they’re pretty good looking, too! Not really into football, or not a big fan of either team? Not to worry! There’s no way you won’t enjoy watching two handsome athletes show their stuff on Sunday. In the meantime, check out the swoon-worthy photos of the fellas below — you don’t even have to thank us.

Two guys. One team. A whole lot of sex appeal. And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve led their team to the biggest night for any NFL team: Super Bowl Sunday, aka, the Beyoncé concert with a football game in between (kidding!). Ray Rice is the electric running back for the Ravens, and Ray Lewis is of course the much loved but controversial linebacker (I’m not saying go find and marry the guy, just enjoy his “body” of work) who is hoping his last game in the league will take him out with a bang (and a ring). In honor of all their hard work and the success that they’ve had this season, two of the best looking guys on the Baltimore Ravens team now have our full attention, and we’ll be watching out for them on Sunday. I’m personally not rooting for one team over the other (look, I don’t watch football like that honestly), but I’m just saying…they look pretty good to me. Why not feature them as candy and promote the Super Bowl at the same time? Killing two birds with one stone. Enjoy!

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo wants to use the Super Bowl media frenzy as a platform to sound off on marriage equality and anti-bullying.
In an email to fellow same-sex marriage supporters Brian Ellner and Michael Skolnik (who also serves as political director to hip-hop mogul and philanthropist Russell Simmons), Ayanbadejo asked, “Is there anything I can do for marriage equality or anti-bullying over the next couple of weeks to harness this Super Bowl media?”
Along with his team, the AFC champion will be playing in the Super Bowl on Feb. 3 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Among those to get word of the email was New York Times columnist Frank Bruni, who reached out to Ayanbadejo.
“On the phone Tuesday afternoon, Ayanbadejo called that missive his “Jerry Maguire email,” referring to the Tom Cruise movie, in which the plot is set in motion when Maguire, played by Cruise, seizes the occasion of a sleepless night to pour his heart and soul into a mission statement,” wrote Bruni.

No, you’re not crazy. You have seen this fine specimen before, because Will Demps has been making waves on and off the football field for years now. From being the ultimate eye candy as LeToya Luckett’s love interest in “Torn,” to making big moves as a former Baltimore Raven, New York Giant and Houston Texan. But since 2009, Demps has been a free agent in the league. And while some people (who won’t be named) would prefer to jump on reality TV or “Dr. Phil,” Demps has decided to get more involved in business, opening his own chain of Wet Willies on the West Coast. The Korean and Puerto Rican hottie is smart, can speak Korean and Spanish, and is HOT! What more could a girl ask for? Check out all the sexiness he has to offer in this slideshow, you won’t be sorry!
