While we were out in these streets bundled up in coats, gloves and other winter wear, the Carter/Knowles family and friends were in the Bahamas, ringing in Blue Ivy’s first birthday and getting the type of sand and sun fun that most broke folks can only afford once a year. *Cues Inner City’s “Good Life” to start playing* Photos surfaced of Jay and Bey out and about during the trip, and Kelly Rowland even wrote Happy Birthday Blue Ivy in the sand a few days back, but big papa Carter decided to post a picture of B.I.C. on his website, Life + Times, where he captioned the photo, “Last day of vacation, playing UNO.” At just a year old, of course Blue was doing more crumpling and throwing of the UNO cards rather than playing, but nonetheless it was clearly a cute moment. Speaking of clearly though, Jigga followed the route of his wife and opted to keep Blue’s face from being seen as much as possible. I’m not sure if they’re aware that paparazzi and nosy people have already exposed her face to the world, but hey, their baby, their rules. We were able to lighten up the photo a little bit below so you actually know what you’re seeing, and we can see that somebody is getting big! Happy belated birthday to the tyke, and on a sidenote, after looking at the background of this photo, is anybody else trying to go on vacation? LIKE NOW??? I’m just saying, their lavish lifestyle is totally beating this one minute it’s 28 degrees, the next it’s 48 degree weather ish I’m dealing with…

Haven’t heard of Calvin Lockhart? Well the Nassau, Bahamas-born actor with skin that The New York Times compared to brown velvet was a Broadway thesbian, a Blaxploitation star and a director. He’s been on and in everything from Cotton Comes to Harlem, the horror film The Beast Must Die, Uptown Saturday Night, and Coming to America of all things! On top of all that, as you can see, Lockhart was also an all-around FINE brotha. If you would like further proof of that, check his bad self out in our gallery.

It looks like the cruise ship industry is facing more negative publicity with a recent death of a passenger aboard a Carnival Fantasy ship. A few weeks ago another luxury cruise ship crashed in Italy and now they have yet another cruise related catastrophe to deal with.

Authorities are investigating the death of a passenger who fell from an upper deck to a lower deck while the cruise ship was docked in the Bahamas.

The 26-year-old victim, whose identity was not released, fell from one of the upper levels of the ship’s atrium to the lobby level late Friday night, Carnival Cruise Lines said in a statement Saturday. The ship was docked in Nassau at the time.

Bahamas police said the man was from South Carolina and that initial reports indicate he may have jumped. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities in the Bahamas have said that they are in the process of sending back 57 Haitian migrants to their homeland who were found near the Caribbean British territory, according to the Associated Press.
