Pass Or Play: Azealia Banks Gets Her Aqua Boogie On In “Atlantis” Video And Gets “Fierce” As New Face For ASOS

While female lyricists like Nicki Minaj get their reality TV star on, and others continue to fade in and out of the irrelevant zone, Harlem rhyme spitter, Azealia Banks, is continuing to make her mark both in the fashion and music world. Case in point: Not only is she one of the new celebrity spokeswomen for ASOS, the uber-popular online store based in the UK, and she just so happened to drop the visuals for her song, “Atlantis.” In the video, “Young Rapunxel” rocks some colorful fashions and accessories (some from ASOS) and dances in front of a green screen that looked like something out of an old Nintendo game–but with a nautical theme. She’s riding dolphins, petting seahorses, and having a ball with her long green locks. While the video is pretty forgettable, the song, which is her usual mix of house music, electro and good ‘ol hip-hop and off of her Fantasea mixtape, is worth a few listens. Check it out and see if you agree. Pass or play?

And as for all that talk of being one of the new faces of ASOS (alongside Ellie Goulding and Charlotte Free), she put that face to work with a quick video where she showcased some of the brands’ looks, including velvet, furs, satin and funky prints. Banks went back to her long purple locks but stuck with her eclectic make up in this one, as she rhymed about winning over basic chicks with her style and her flow. You know, the usual braggadocio rappers love to spit bars about. Check out the visuals for that quick flick as well. This isn’t her first video repping for a certain fashion house or brand, as she performed “Van Vogue”  as the face of Alexander Wang’s Fall 2012 campaign. This time, she’s repping for a label most of us can actually afford. Check it out!

This has been a big week for fashion thanks to all the events going on for Hollywood’s A-listers. And some of our favorites didn’t disappoint as they had jaws dropping and flashbulbs on fire as they hit the scene. Now was it a good jaw drop or a bad one? Let’s look through the following photographs and find out.

This woman is 46 years old? WOW! The stunning singer hit up the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala at Cap d’Antibes in this flowing Emilio Pucci gown. The halter dress also had a deep v-neck which definitely showcased Jackson’s girls, and a slit that went up her lower thigh to show off those gams. The train was long, as were her locks, and on her feet were futuristic Giuseppe Zanotti wedges that didn’t have a heel. While I’m not feeling her makeup, otherwise, Ms. Jackson looks pretty freaking awesome. Steal! Just let me get in the gym real quick first…
