Juanita Bynum better start calling on the Lord harder than she ever has before because the televangelist preacher could sure use him on her main line right now. According to a Dallas Crime Blog, she spent the night in the Lew Sterrett Justice Center Thursday night after police arrested her on a warrant for failure to appear in a Dallas civil proceeding against her.

According to the site, Juanita, who resides in Georgia, was booked in at the jail about 10:30 p.m. Thursday and was released Friday after she appeared in a Dallas courtroom to answer questions in the case, which relates to a 2007 judgment ordering her to pay $140,000 to ALW Entertainment. Obnoxious TV reports that promoter Al Wash of ALW Entertainment paid Juanita a $100,000 advance to star in a stage play that she never did. He sued her and won and Juanita was allegedly ordered to make payments to him, which she has not done. That, on top of missing her court appearance to explain why she hasn’t been paying, is what caused a warrant to be issued, and her subsequent arrest.

Wash’s attorney, David Small seems to be confident the case will be resolved soon, telling the crime blog:

“[Juanita] has disclosed the whereabouts of her assets and her business dealings.”

Sounds like Al is going to get his money one way or another. Juanita, stay prayed up girl!

This Is No Joke: Comedian Kevin Hart Arrested For DUI!

I guess all the jokes in the world couldn’t stop this from happening.

TMZ is reporting that comedian Kevin Hart was arrested for DUI early this morning after almost having a huge accident.

Police say that around 4:30am/PT, Hart was driving on the 101 freeway in California at about 90 miles per hour. His erratic driving almost caused him to collide with a gas tanker but he was able to stop his Mercedes in time.

The California Highway Patrol pulled him over and while talking to him, he showed signs of intoxication and was unable to perform field sobriety tests.

Hart was arrested and booked in a local jail on a misdemeanor DUI charge.  According to TMZ, he’s been there since about 6am/PT and is being held on $5,000 bond.

Update: Kevin has been released and sent out the following tweets:

Well, this is unfortunate. I mean, we all have a choice to not drink and drive (we can call cabs if necessary) but a celebrity – especially one of Kevin Hart’s magnitude – can just have a driver take them everywhere.  There really are ways for them to avoid such silly arrests.

Hopefully, near or far from his home, Kevin won’t find himself in this situation again.

Blame It On The Alcohol: Naomi Campbell Says She Isn’t To Blame For Her ‘Old Self’

One thing we know for sure, or hope to be true: It’s never too late to learn a lesson. In this case, Miss “Queen of the Runway” has come to realize that liquor has been the root of almost all of her problems.

Well, that’s what she wants us to believe.  Naomi Campbell told Life & Style magazine that she’s convinced that alcohol is the reason she’s been so miserable for so long and has acted out, according to SF Gate. In the interview, she says:

“If people think they know me, they can think again. Most people think they know me because they say, ‘We’ve seen your pictures here and there for years,’ but when I’m not working or anything, I try to live a private, quiet life…

“I gave up drinking alcohol. Not drinking makes me a lot happier.”

Now, if any of you have had the unfortunate circumstance of dealing with someone who suffers from alcohol abuse, then you know that it does make you do things you may not ordinarily do if your head was a bit clearer. Campbell, however, isn’t admitting to any alcohol abuse – she’s just saying that she stopped because it wasn’t helping her at all.

I wonder if any of the people who were victims of her tirades, 10 documented cases between 1998 and 2008, can find it in their hearts to forgive her for her actions since the blame should be placed on “the Goose” or “the Henny.”  Let’s be honest: she settled most of those cases out of court so all was probably “forgiven” when the checks cleared.

These days, Naomi is spending her days traveling the world. Her billionaire boyfriend, Vladisdav Doronin, has bought her multiple homes around the world and they’re often photographed aboard his yacht.

Ah yes, life must be good.

Pimp in Distress: 14 Things We Learned From Katt Williams’ Breakdown

We feel bad for Katt Williams, really bad. At first it was fun to watch him showing out all over the western seaboard, but eventually we realized he was clearly in the middle of a very public meltdown and there was no one there to help him. Though a lot of bad things have come out of Katt’s constant screw-ups, we have gained some important information and learned a few things along the way— not the least of which being crack is beyond wack. But here are a few other interesting tidbits that revealed themselves while Katt went on a rampage.

Maybe Anger Management Isn’t Such A Bad Idea: Katt Williams Arrested On Battery Charges (Again)

When Kat Williams makes headlines two times in one week it’s usually not good and this time is no different. Just Sunday we reported that the comedian was being sued for $5 million dollars by his female assistant, Melissa Ishage, for punching her in the face and causing permanent damage. BTW, how do you get so angry that you physically assault one of your employees and a woman no less? Anyway, it looks like Katt’s short temper has landed him in hot water again.

TMZ is reporting that last night the troubled comedian was picked up by police in Oakland, California for questioning stemming from a physical altercation. The San Francisco Gate  is reporting that the altercation involved an 18-year-old Berkley teen.

Williams was arrested on suspicion of assault after he hit a man in the head with a bottle outside a downtown Oakland Hotel, police said Thursday.

Williams, 41, attacked the man aboard a tour bus parked outside the Courtyard Marriott at 988 Broadway shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said. The victim, whose name wasn’t released, suffered a laceration to his head, police said.

Officers found Williams several blocks away and arrested him.

Specifics surrounding what caused the incident are still unknown, but Katt was not released after questioning.

Let us not forget that just one month ago, Katt was accused of pulling out a gun on comedian Faizon Love in front of the Supper Club in Hollywood, California and arrested in Los Angeles. Katt never denied the claims, but proceeded to refer to Love as a “snitch” and  a “bald-faced rat” for going around telling “street business” to TMZ reps.

A warrant was also issued for him by Atlanta Police for an additional battery charge in relation to an altercation that occurred back in 2010.

I’m not sure what Katt’s deal is but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with seeking professional help and he needs to know that. It seems that he has anger issues only prayer and a licensed therapist with a whole lot of patience can work out. A few self-control exercises probably wouldn’t hurt either.

Creflo Dollar Releases Statement on Arrest; Expected For Sunday Worship Service

June 10th, 2012 - By Victoria Uwumarogie

Source: joy105.com

You’ve probably already heard about Pastor Creflo Dollar’s arrest on Friday for alleged assault against his 15-year-old daughter. As we told you on Friday, the scuffle between father and daughter all started over an argument on whether or not the young woman could attend a party. Though there was talk of his daughter being punched and choked, according to the Associated Press, authorities who responded to the call of domestic violence made by the 15-year-old (and corroborated by her older sister) say she was left with “superficial injuries.” Dollar allegedly put his hands on his daughter when the argument escalated. He was arrested at his home in Fayetteville, and posted bond of $5,000 on Friday morning. He has now released a statement about the incident, in which he says the following:

“As a father I love my children and I always have their best interest at heart at all times, and I would never use my hand to ever cause bodily harm to my children. The facts in this case will be handled privately to further protect my children. My family thanks you for your prayers and continued support.”

If you were wondering, yes, Dollar is expected to preach at church today. Expect some hoopla around that service if you’re in the area and plan to attend.

A big conversation has opened up since this story broke on Friday, and it basically prompted folks to ask when are you taking it too far in disciplining children who get out of line, and when did such discipline require a call to police and a charge of assault?  To throw in my two cents, I’ll definitely say that times have changed, as have the children and young people of today. And from what I can see while riding the train or walking the streets, a few of these young’ns could use a whooping or two. But choking? No dice. Either way, I’m just starting to think this was a small family conflict that got blown out of proportion. But hey, only Creflo, his daughter and God really know what happened in that room, so I’ll let them work it all out…

It Takes Two To Tussle: Deion Sanders Cited For Assault

Source: Jimrome.com

Somewhere in the midst of twit-picing him and his sons sitting around the coffee table filing out police reports, Deion Sanders neglected to mention that police didn’t exactly see him as innocent in the whole ordeal. Following an investigation into his altercation with his wife Monday night, Prosper, TX, cops also gave him a ticket for misdemeanor simple assault.

His punishment is obviously a lot less than his wife’s who was hauled off to jail for assault family violence since she appeared to be the aggressor in the case, but by Deion also being ticketed I assume the cops didn’t buy his claim of simpy “defending” himself until he could call 911. His citation could cost him up to $500 which is a drop in the bucket for him, but he spoke to Dallas station KXAS about the domestic dispute after Pilar’s arrest, saying:

“Is somebody going have to die? Is it going to be me before the court does something and gets this woman out of my house?  It’s absurd.”

Looks like he got his wish because upon being released from jail, Pilar was also banned from entering the couple’s mansion for the next two months. She told reporters after being set free:

“I am innocent. I understand that I have a very little chance at beating a Hall of Fame, two-sport man that everyone seems to love and adore. I am a full-time mom 100 percent for my children and I have just not gotten a fair shake.”

I’m not sure how she thought “kicking, biting, and scratching” her soon-to-be ex-husband in front of her children would help her get one but this may be another lesson she learned the hard way.

That Chick Cray: Pilar Sanders Arrested For Jumping Deion

April 24th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

Pilar has officially lost it. Last night, Deion Sanders sent out a series of tweets claiming he had just been assaulted by his estranged wife, Pilar, in front of their children. The story seemed a little bogus at first but then Deion uploaded the pic above with him and his sons filling out police reports and things got a little more real. Here’s what he tweeted:

“Pray for me and my kids now! They just witnessed their mother and a friend jump me in my room. She’s going to jail n I’m pressing charges!”

“I’m sad my boys witnessed this mess but I warned the police department here that she was gone try n harm me and my boys. This is on my mama!”

http://yfrog.com/o0547uj filling out police reports now! Thank God for this platform to issue the Truth.

Though you can’t exactly tell those are police reports the boys are filling out, what you can tell is this is a mug shot of Pilar Sanders on the Collin County website after she was booked on a Class C Misdemeanor of assault family violence. Deion told TMZ that Pilar was taken to the hospital from his home after she claimed she needed medical treatment—probably for the busted lip we see in the mug shot—he also said he didn’t harm her, he simply “defended” himself until he could call the cops.

Since things have been pretty quiet between these two recently, even though they still live together somehow in their Dallas suburban home, we’re going to assume Deion walking the red carpet for the “Streetcar Named Desire” premier with Tracey Edmonds, who Pilar claims is one of Deion’s mistresses, is what set her off. Considering Pilar’s bond is only $264.00, Tracey better watch out. She might be next.

Another WSHH ‘Star’ Bites The Dust Because Beatdown Goes Viral

April 19th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

Source: Vibevixen.com

Yesterday, one of my friends asked me If I’d seen a World Star Hip Hop (WSHH) video of some girl beating up another girl over Twitter and as soon as I said no, I looked at my feed and it was lit up with tweets on the fight.

After watching the brutal clip, all I could think was one, if someone came to my house questioning me with another person videotaping it, I would close my door with a quickness. The second was are these people not afraid of being caught showing their faces on-camera? If they’re not, they should be because police have increasingly been using WSHH to find criminals and the perpetrator in this fight, Tashay D. Edwards, is now added to the list.

The viral video didn’t lead to Tashay’s arrest but it ruins any chance of her denying the altercation. According to the Chronicle-Telegram newspaper in the Cleveland suburb of Elyria, “Tashay D. Edwards, 19, 100 block Spring St., [was] arrested and charged with assault and violation of a temporary protection order. A woman, who said she has had ongoing problems with Edwards, said Edwards repeatedly punched her and ripped her shirt off.”

The arrest actually happened a month ago on March 19 and that’s exactly what’s shown in the WSHH video as Tashay approaches the victim, questions her momentarily over “being disrespectful on Twitter,” and then punches, stomps, and drags her off of her porch into the yard. It’s odd that the video just made it’s way to WSHH yesterday, but it definitely caught on quickly. By the afternoon 2 million people had viewed it. Hopefully this video makes the assault charges stick. I think I speak for most people when I say viewers will sleep better knowing this girl has been arrested.

Watch the clip at your own risk. Definitely NSFW (or much else.)

Sex Crimes Reported on Campus Seldom Prosecuted as Felonies

December 6th, 2011 - By Brande Victorian

It’s often difficult for women, especially on college campuses, to report that they were victims of sexual assault, and low prosecution rates certainly don’t do much to convince women that coming forward is worth the shame and embarrassment they often feel.

A report into 16 colleges and universities in the Chicago area found that sex crimes reported on the campuses are rarely prosecuted as felonies. Out of more than 100 incidents reported since 2005, only 12 resulted in arrests, five in convictions, and most potential felonies were downgraded to misdemeanors—an act that is often viewed as an insult to victims.

“A misdemeanor battery is the same charge you’d get if you punched someone in the face,” Sharmili Majmudar, Executive Director of Rape Victim Advocates, told The Chicago Tribune. “To have any kind of conviction is something positive, I can’t deny that. But it’s such a qualified success. We’d like to see more felony charges.”

Earlier this year, The Tribune reported similar results from a June survey of six schools in Illinois and Indiana. Of the 171 reported sex crimes police investigated since 2005, there were only 12 arrests and four convictions.

The arrest and conviction rates in the Midwest and Cook County surveys were far below the average for rapes reported nationally, which suggests other states pursue sex crimes more aggressively, but it seems as though victims may be getting violated all over again in these cases which typically boil down to one person’s word against the others.

Did you often hear about sex crimes occurring on your college campuses? Were perpetrators ever convicted of their crimes? Why do you think the conviction rate is so low?
