I had been waiting on this collaboration from Jilly from Philly and the most soulful man in the game, Anthony Hamilton, for a good long while now. So when I heard that these two were getting together on a track, I knew some type of magic was going to take place. And I was not disappointed. “So In Love” is a classic “shake something down at the family reunion” type of song. It just feels good. Which is exactly why it’s the jam of the day. Hopefully, it’ll spread some positive vibes all over your Monday morning situation.

As we move through June, we continue to celebrate Black Music Month.  If you’re anything like me as an R&B/soul music fan, when you are introduced to an artist who you think is amazing, you want them to succeed. But then again, you don’t want them to blow up so much for fear that the music will change or become watered down.  Today, we take a look at some of today’s best and brightest in soul who’ve received lots of attention but haven’t really allowed the music to suffer in the process. Jill Scott

There are two artists I might end a friendship over if you speak ill of them, and Jill Scott is one of them. For years, Jill has proven herself as a musical force to be reckoned with – there are few who can match that voice and those songwriting abilities. She sings in different languages, she sings her songs in operatic tone, and her range is amazing. We’re always ready for new music from Jilly from Philly.

Surprise, surprise…celebs hook up while they work together! I mean, why not? Don’t some people at our jobs hook up on the low (or not so low, lol)?  Anyway, here’s a list of a few former and current couples who have hooked up (some have never spoke on it but the rumor mill has always buzzed about it)! These days, finding a good love song on the radio is like locating snow in Nevada. Sure it happens but you have to go to great lengths to see it. Unless you’re listening to an old school hour, the love songs of today leave a lot to be desired. But they are out there; so in the spirit of 2011 coming to a close, we’ve taken the time to compile some of the best love songs this year had to offer.

Is it really a surprise that these two members of the royal family of soul would produce the smooth groove of the year? Jill and Anthony have been on my fantasy collaboration list for a very long time. So I was excited to see them working together. If you’ve been known to step, this song was made just for you.

Okay, so you didn’t get to go to the Essence Music Festival and you’re looking to hear some good music. Who better than Jill Scott? Jilly from Philly is headlining this year’s Budweiser Superfest, which kicks off on July 26 to August 28. The “So in Love” singer will get some help from soul brotha Anthony Hamilton and Mint Condition, and everyone’s favorite beatboxer, Doug E. Fresh will be hosting the tour stops. Certain cities will also host Dwele, Anthony David and Jon B.

But aside from watching some big name crooners tear up the stage, Budweiser is also seeking local talent in cities ranging from Detroit to Houston for their “Opening Act” competition, brought to the masses by MySpace Music. The competition will offer winners the chance to be an opening act for the Budweiser Superfest show taking place in their city. Competitions will take weeks prior to the concerts, and after the tour has ended, people can go on the MySpace Music website and vote for their favorite performer. The big winner of the “Opening Act” competition will win $25,000.

One of our absolute favorites Jilly from Philly releases her fourth studio, “Light of the Sun” today. Are you smiling inside? We are. In case you haven’t had a chance to hear the singles she’s already released; the album features collaborations with soul singer Anthony Hamilton, female MC Eve and the South’s own Paul Wall…yes Paul Wall.

Jilly from Philly has been on a bit of a hiatus, when it comes to producing albums. Instead the artist has been touring with Maxwell and co-starring in Tyler Perry films.
