‘I Have 6 Kids Of My Own. You Cannot Talk To Grown Women Like We’re 2:’ Keke Wyatt Speaks On Angie Stone Beef

Remember last week’s episode of “R&B Divas” when Keke Wyatt called Angie Stone an “old a** b****” and stormed away from the diva intervention going on between the “Brotha” singer and the rest of the cast? Well we got a chance to do a live Twitter chat with Keke after last night’s episode of the TV One reality show and one of the first questions we asked her was what is up with her beef with the singer. Luck for us, she did not hesitate to explain the real deal.

We’re not mad at that. Angie Stone definitely descended upon Keke, Syleena, Faith, Nicci, LaTocha, and Monifah in a mother hen, “I’ve been doing this longer than you — and way better might I add — so you have to listen to me” kind of way. But we did think it was a little funny how Keke didn’t want Angie coming at her like a child, but she always talks to her hubby, poor Michael Jamar, like he was born yesterday. We asked the 31-year-old singer about that too and she said she’s not as hard on her boo in real life as it seems on the show.

Check out what else we chatted with the craziest cast member of the “Divas” about on the next page — like why no one wants to do this “R&B Divas” tour and what’s up with her duet CD with Avant. Follow the whole stream on Twitter at #MNChats too.

‘I Had A Similar Concept On The Back Burner:’ Angie Stone On Why She Didn’t Join The Cast Of ‘R&B Divas’ Until Season 2

When it was first announced that Angie Stone would be added to the cast of R&B Divas Atlanta,  only two things came to mind:

1. “There’s about to be a lot more drama added to the show’s storyline.”

2. “Why the heck didn’t TV One producers think of this sooner?”

Thought number one was confirmed almost instantly, considering that Angie is already beefing with co-star KeKe Wyatt. And Angie recently addressed number two during an interview with Hello Beautiful. According to Angie, she was actually invited to join the cast of R&B Divas during season one, but politely declined because she had been playing around with a similar reality show concept.

“I didn’t join the first season because I had a similar concept on the back burner and I didn’t realize that Nicci and Faith had the same vision. Ideas are universal. Sometimes the same ideas are born at the same time — it happens!!!! I didn’t want to be in competition with my sisters because we all had the same vision. The truth is, they wanted me on their show and I wanted them on mine! Since then we’ve come to a happy medium. They invited me to join the cast because they knew this was a vision of mine. We met in the middle and the rest is history. I saw my dream unfolding on television and I am happy that I’m truly a part of this vision,” the soulful songstress revealed.

She didn’t waste an opportunity to expound on what it means to be a “first-class diva” either.
“God loves me and placed me on a platform to share my way of thinking and that includes my first-class mentality. I’m from the hood but I have a first class mentality. My philosophy is simple – THINK FIRST-CLASS, PRACTICE FIRST-CLASS and eventually, YOU WILL BE FIRST CLASS.”

Are you feeling Angie’s presence on the show so far?

This morning we had the chance to chat up “R&B Divas Atlanta” star Miss Nicci Gilbert and she gave us some interesting tidbits on the real source of her drama with Syleena Johnson and whether a tour with these amazingly talented ladies will ever happen.

Check out what she had to say during our #MNChats Twitterview and be sure to check out the hashtag on Twitter for the full convo. Next week we’ll be talking to Keke Wyatt at 11pm, Wednesday, May 15 — right after episode 3 airs!

Just Can’t Wait: What We Want To Know About The New R&B Divas

Unexpectedly, I became a fan of the R&B Divas in Atlanta. Unlike most reality tv shows featuring casts comprised of mostly women, the R&B Divas had disagreements but they never resulted in blows or bottles being thrown. There was no physical drama but the show was never boring. So I’m happy to see that TV One is expanding the franchise and hiring a whole new cast for LA. We already told you who’s going to be on the show but here’s what we’re looking forward to learning and seeing from each cast member.

This Should Be Interesting: Angie Stone and LaTocha Scott Added To The Cast of TV One’s “R&B Divas”

TV One’s reality show “R&B Divas” was a proven hit last season. One thing that really caused it to stand out among the clutter of the heap of reality shows that television networks dish out is that it was one of the few shows that actually documented the lives of real celebrities. You know, people who were famous prior to being featured on a reality show. It appears that TV One is taking full advantage of that unique aspect of the show and are continuing to build on it. According to a press statement released by the station, they will be building upon that spectacular star power by adding soulful songstress Angie Stone and founding Xscape member, LaTocha Scott to the season two cast. The ladies will be joining the show’s original cast members, Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert-Daniels, Monifah Carter, Syleena Johnson and Keke Wyatt.

As you may already know, this isn’t Angie’s first reality television experience. Years ago she appeared on VH1′s “Celebrity Fit Club 4″. Since then, she has launched a full-fleged campaign entitled FACE (Fearless African Americans Connected and Empowered), in an effort to “inspire behavioral changes in African Americans, who are disproportionately affected by diabetes,” which is an illness Angie was also diagnosed with back in 1999.

Since LaTocha’s Xscape days, she has acted as the pen behind various songs that appeared on popular movie soundtracks, in addition to launching the Goldyn Girl Foundation, which is an organization with the goal of cultivating self-love and self-esteem in young women. She is currently preparing for the release of her debut solo album as well as penning a tell-all book about her experiences during her time with R&B girl group Xscape.

The two new additions to the cast are sure to mix things up a bit and is certainly a way to add potential drama to the storyline. This is looking like an excellent formula for reality television. I’m sure many are curious and excited to see both Angie and LaTocha returning to the spotlight.

The new season is set to premiere around the Spring of 2013.

What do you think of LaTocha and Angie being added to the cast?

“I Can’t Eat, I Can’t Sleep Anymore”-Because You’re Triflin: MN Jam Of The Day – “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” By Angie Stone

Just in case you don’t get the opportunity to jam with us on Facebook, that doesn’t mean you can’t find out the morning jam and groove at your desk for the rest of the day. Today’s cut is from our girl Angie Stone, and it’s, “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” about an ungrateful man who forgot the woman who had his back because he’d rather run after the new little hot thing up the street. Typical man. Just kidding! But seriously, this jam is one of those that is sure to have you finger snappin’ and head bobbin’ when you play it because I’m sure you’ll love it and will also be able to relate. But a gal has to move on:

“Letting go doesn’t mean that you don’t care about someone anymore. It’s just realizing that the only person you really have control over is yourself.”

Ain’t that nothin’ but the truth. Enjoy ladies!

Lookey Lookey! Angie Stone And Sunshine Anderson Added To “R&B Divas”

November 27th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

We already knew R&B Divas was slated to get a mini-facelift after news hit that Brownstone singer Nicci Gilbert was given the axe. At the time, Kelly Price was rumored to be her replacement, but TV One has taken that option and one-upped it by adding not one but two new divas to the cast. According to the YBF, Angie Stone and Sunshine Anderson will now be joining the network’s latest reality hit.

So why two new ladies? Well according to the site’s sources, Nicci Gilbert isn’t the only diva bouncing on the show. Faith Evans, who appeared to be the glue holding the bunch together, is also reportedly walking away from the series. That leaves Syleena Johnson, KeKe Wyatt and Monifah who are all expected to return.

There’s no word on what may have prompted Faith to leave — or whether her decision was by choice — but since the ladies are probably the least drama-filled group on TV, aside from Hollywood Exes, it would be surprising if she was kicked off the show for problems or for being too boring. Maybe she just decided reality TV wasn’t for her. Plus it seemed Faith’s main focus was to release an album featuring the five singers and since that hasn’t happened, I’m sure she figured, what’s the point? Nicci, on the other hand, who had no desire to sing anyway, likely isn’t too broken up over that news I’m sure.

But back to Angie and Sunshine. These are two divas we definitely haven’t heard enough or seen enough of in recent years to I will be anxious to see what’s going on in their lives these days. And if Syleena, Keke, Monifah, and these two end up being the ones to actually put out an album together, I’m sure no fans would be mad at that.

Are you excited to see these two on the next season of R&B Divas?

Where Are They Now? Talented R&B Divas Who’ve Gone MIA Over the Years

July 19th, 2012 - By Victoria Uwumarogie

It’s tough in this R&B game. If you’re not stripping to your knickers or dipping it low and picking it up slow like Christina Milian said to do (and you see how far that got her), *sucks teeth* it’s hard to get your just dues. Sex sells and real talent sometimes struggles to keep the buying public’s attention. Just look at the following ladies. Being as nosey as we are, we decided to go looking for some recent R&B divas who made a mark and then slowly but surely became hard to find. I’m sure you were wondering too, don’t front!

Per the usual, be ready to click. This slideshow isn’t for the faint at heart or the whiney. Just saying. Thanks!

Blu Cantrell

If you listened to the advice of Blu Cantrell back when she dropped “Hit ‘Em Up Style (Oops)” back in 2001, when your man wanted to get “buckwild” you needed to stick it to him via his pockets. That little random piece of advice had women everywhere blasting her jam out of their cars. But after dropping that single and the album So Blu in 2001, and Bittersweet in 2003 (which produced the Sean Paul-assisted “Breathe”), Blu Cantrell went MIA.

Or did she? After the fact, a few years later Cantrell was trying her hand at acting, appearing in the stage play Gossip, Lies and Secrets, and even did the usual stint on reality TV by showing up on the NBC program, “Celebrity Circus.” And yes, the show was about exactly what you’re thinking. But allegedly, Cantrell is leaving all that behind to get back to singing, and is in the studio with producer DeShawn Hendrickson, now prepping for a comeback. Will she be well received? Only time will tell.
