AOL Introduces A New Email Management System. Will You Sign Up?
AOL has introduced Alto, an email management system that will help you organize your existing accounts, whether it’s Gmail, Yahoo, or, yes, AOL. Available through invite-only (at the moment), the system groups your inbox contents into bite-size categories to help you get a better sense of what you have and what needs to be addressed. The system also offers organizational helpers for your photos and attachments, a tab for contacts, including friends on social media, and a search tab. A complete rundown of the perks is available here. And Business Insider has an exhaustive tour of the service (45 slides!).
AOL has lost a lot of subscribers since its heyday when the phrase “You’ve got mail!” was so recognizable they could make a movie out of it. The company revamped its own email program this summer and, according to The Washington Post, that was done so the site could hang on to the 24 million people who still use it. Since this new tool doesn’t offer an email account of its own, it may be trying to draw users through other methods. “[T]he best thing AOL can do now is encourage people back into the AOL fold by offering something they can’t get from Google or Yahoo — an interface that helps make email more manageable,” the newspaper says.
David Temkin, SVP of mail for AOL, frames Alto in terms of AOL’s long-developed expertise in email services during an interview with ABC News. Still, ABC points out Alto’s shortcomings. “There are no threaded messages, a feature that groups your messages by conversation in your inbox,” ABC says, kind of a basic at this point, if you ask us.
So, will you sign up for this new service? Does your inbox overfloweth?
Men Whose Voices Make Us Melt
In life there needs to be balance, a meeting of opposites. Hot, cold, black, white etc. You get the picture. It is this search for balance, the inclusion of the opposite, that draws us to men with rough, gruff, deep voices, simply because many of us belonging to the fairer sex have higher-pitched sometimes squeaky voices. And while a deep voice is certainly not a requirement; it’s just another thing that makes us think of manliness and masculinity. Check out this list of men who possess this characteristic.
