World renowned musician Shakira says her performance in the World Cup closing ceremony will be a tribute to African women.

The ‘Waka Waka’ song star was addressing media at the organising committee’s daily briefing at Soccer City in Nasrec on Saturday.

“I want to highlight the struggle of African women,” she said.

To do this, Shakira said she would incorporate local female dancers in her final performance ahead of the Netherlands and Spain match on Sunday.

As part of the closing bash, three-time Grammy award winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo will also be performing.

The group advised fans to look for a special song that they will be performing at the ceremony.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s Joseph Shabalala said it was an honour to him and his group to welcome visitors to SA.

“We have been to their places and they are good people,” he said.

The closing ceremony is expected to be divided into three sections that will celebrate soccer fans experience, the World Cup itself and the country.
