Discussion of the Day–Stepping Out On Faith

July 7th, 2010 - By madamenoire

Madames, what role does religion or faith play in your life?

While some of us go to church weekly, others go during the holidays, and some never go to church or a place of worship but have their own relationship with whatever practice they believe in…

Did you grow up in a religious household?  Do you practice the faith your family did or have you chosen another path?

Do you pray? What do you teach you children about faith?

Madames, what role does religion or faith play in your life?

I grew up in a religious home and for a long time felt like religion is very important. I went to church, took my daughter and made sure that she understood the values and morals introduce by christianity.

However, lately I have been questioning religion, trying to understand why is it that i so strongly believe in a religion that was forced uponmy slaved ancestors!

Why is it that the church impose rules that are not inlined with the teachings of the bible, for example, the Seventh Day Adventice, who lingers around the old testament and believes that they are the only true christians because they worship on saturday, or Johovah Witness, who does not celebrate their birthday and only God knows what else.

The Catholic church priets, where in the bible says that they should not have wives, as a result they have found themselves infatuated with sexual temtations on children.

My Grandmother attends a Methodist church who has been collecting offerings and thithes a century now and still worship in a broken down wooden building, where is the money going?

So im starting to wonder if im not just better off staying at home, reading the bible and teaching my daughter to apply good judgement on what is right and wrong rather than have it interpeted by a preast, paster etc.

    Am I wrong?
