According to documents obtained by celebrity news site The Blast, Mary J. Blige’s estranged husband, Kendu Isaacs is requesting more spousal support from Blige because her decision to bash his name publicly and through her “divorce songs” has hindered his employment opportunities.

With the release of her latest album, Strength of a Woman, Blige, 46, has put out music that seemingly calls out her relationship with Isaacs. She also hasn’t been shy about saying how disrespectful he was during their marriage while speaking publicly. In September, she called the 49-year-old a con artist.

“I thought someone loved me, right? Turns out, he was a con artist and he didn’t, and now he’s coming after me for all my money,” she said while promoting her film Mudbound. “When you come out of something like that, you realize you were never the one. There was someone else that was his queen. I got played. I got suckered. I have to keep smiling and keep my spirits up because this is designed to kill me.”

Well, Isaacs says that such public statements about him, along with the release of singles “Love Yourself” and “Set Me Free” in particular, have hurt his ability to find work. According to The Blast, he needs more money from Blige to get by while he tries to find work and to pay for the 1,400 square foot apartment he’s staying in while in Los Angeles. He originally requested $129,319 a month before Blige was ordered to only pay $30,000 a month in spousal support back in June.  But now he is seeking an increase to $65,000, claiming she has $275,476 a month available that can go towards paying him spousal support. All in all, Isaacs says Blige has used him and his name to make successful “divorce songs,” so he wants his cut. Based on the way the judge ruled previously though, we don’t really see it happening.
