Celebrity Role Models That Need To Have A Seat

November 3rd, 2011 - By nativenotes

Nicki Minaj
I’m not really feeling the Barbz movement. Aside from the fact that Nicki is oversexed, she’s got young girls and grown women doing some of the dumbest ish out here. Dying their hair pink, experimenting with girls. I’m all for girls who like girls but not folks who are just jumping on any and every bandwagon.

maybe we—and by “we” i mean Madame Noire—need to learn tolerance and to respect other people’s differences. The same thing y’all condemn is the same ish y’all cover every day. You made these people famous don’t complain about it now.

You forgot about BEYONCE. The main woman everyone claims to be classy, and such a star. What happened to her religion? He clothes (lack thereof)? Substance in songs? I wouldn’t even care about her if she wasn’t pushed into my face everyday by the media and blog sites and her continuous mag covers and interviews. Just keep it real. She can have a seat, too. She’s no damn saint, and people keep making her out to be.

    • Tif

Beyonce is not a problem. Rihdiculous is. I don’t know how you could not put her on this list! Don’t want to be a role model? Well stop accepting the $ of the kids that do look up to you as one!

  • Shalayah2010

Yeaa. I agree, I dont get this whole Lady gaga era. Her voice isnt THAT amazing and her whole fashion sense it busteddd.

  • Salangi11

There are many more, but these ones are the worst and they are beginning to get on my last nerves…smh

  • lmalia

I don’t understand what Lady Gaga’s fashion sense has anything to do with her being  a role model. She brings a refreshing creativity that is often not seen in the entertainment industry and is not ashamed to be different and be herself , which makes her more of a role model.

    • Ummm…

wearing a meat dress when people worldwide are hungry and there is a famine in Somalia and showing up at events in an egg is being herself and NOT AT ALL an act.  Yeah… okay

  • chriswillnever

But nicki came from the bottom to the top n less then 5yrs u gotta respect her hustle

    • Semirra long

And her hustle is bing a plastic surgery black barbie doll that raps nursery rhymes? Right. Have a seat next to her.

      • Ks

LMAO at your comment….sooo right though!lol

      • Dollztalk

Ahahahahaha! Damn that waas funny and u r absolutely right!!

    • Yomomma

she became known once she mutilated her body n became the sara baartman of 2011…PLEASE. i hate wen ppl say “respect her hsutle”–when in actuality she’s an industry CLOWN. she’s a joke n never can respect her hustle…i call it simply sellin out to make a joke of yourself n further exhibit why black women n black ppl in general are walking stereotypes. -__-

Korey I’d give you 60 thumbs ups if I could. None of these people are my role models. I admire the creativity and their success because I don’t hate on them in that way, but they are beyond extreme. And I wish to God Drake would stop with those depressing *ss songs GOOD GRIEF. The author could not be more on point with that dig. I am broke Drake, so therefore I don’t understand where you are coming from. No I don’t know what it’s like for chicks and guys to approach me, I’m broke. No I don’t know if Shanice or Mark is being 100% with me, I’m broke. No I don’t know about fame, I’m broke. Can you sing/rap something I can relate to? Please. And not in that monotone voice. (Meaning one note in case that word was “too fancy” for you). That’s all I ask.

And to add…. I don’t know what Shaq is doing, but I’d climb that mountain if he looking for love and wanna trick that dough….

I asked this question the other day as I was watching TVOne: “How did we: 20 years after The Cosby Show, A Different World, New York Undercover, Living Single,  and every other positive show that featured people of color being career oriented,civic-minded all the while being funny or making you think… How the hell did we end up with NeNe, Kim K, Flava Flav, and VH1′s dating reality show block?

How did we regress? What the hell happened?

    • MSKNOWITALL

That’s what i’m saying! You know what’s even sad black folks defending this craziness or ignorance. Seems like we are  lowering our standards everyday smh

    • Kirafab

I was just telling a friend, the 90s had the best television. This crap that’s on now makes me wanna drop my cable, and get all those shows on DVD!

    • ololololol
