Tyrese’s Daughter Allowed To Testify In Child Custody Hearing
When you Google Tyrese’s name the first thing that comes up is this one-sided conversation he’s having with Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson about his decision to star in a Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs movie.
But despite the recent content of his Instagram page, he has quite a bit to be worried about in his personal life. He and his ex-wife Norma Gibson are currently in the midst of a child custody battle with their daughter, 10-year-old Shayla Gibson.
As we’ve previously reported, Norma filed for a temporary restraining order after their daughter Shayla came home and told her mother that, “Dad beat me so hard that it hurts when I sit down.”
According to Norma, the beating was a result of Shayla taking money out of her piggy bank. She claimed, Tyrese “went into a rage, pushed our daughter to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other.”
The alleged beating caused Norma to request that their custody agreement be changed. She also petitioned a judge to allow their daughter to testify in the court proceedings. Tyrese did not want his daughter to be called to give evidence because he felt it would have “drastic, long-lasting implications for the child’s wellbeing and psychological welfare.”
But the judge has granted Norma permission to call Shayla to the stand if she so chooses.
Tyrese and Norma are due back in court on October 24, 2017.
