Jhene Aiko must have been as impressed as we were when she was her man Big Sean defending her from some disrespectful people at an event she was throwing for her new record. She followed up such a gesture of love by getting his face tattooed on her arm.
The 29-year-old showed her clear love and affection for him by getting the ink done by popular LA tattoo artist Miryam “The Witchdoctor” Lumpini:
The tattoo comes just a week after it was announced that Aiko and ex-husband Dot Da Genius’s divorce had been finalized. The two were married for 11 months and were able to make a somewhat clean severance from one another since they didn’t share children and no one requested spousal support.
As far as her new relationship, Aiko and Big Sean haven’t been too shy about expressing their love and lust for one another. She talked about what their professional collaboration as Twenty88 was about back in March, and said it had to do with two people speaking on the ups and downs of love.
“For me and Sean, it’s about being able to come together and give the perspective of a man and a woman being very honest about relationships and love, and good times and bad times,” she said.” And for both of us, it’s a mesh, a blend of both of our sounds.”
She’s also been open about how he’s inspired the naughtier side of her music. She admitted that he inspired one particular line in the song “Maniac,” where she says her lover’s packing something “As long as a ruler.” So when it comes to her trip to the tattoo shop, it might be safe to say that she proudly did it for the D. (Get it?!) Whatever the reason, that’s a pretty clear and fancy tattoo.
Check out the pair performing together on The Tonight Show last night where she kept her new ink covered up — for now. Oh, and the performance is pretty great by the way:
