It’s a well-known fact that men enable other men and rarely hold one another accountable for their actions, but we find it particularly disturbing and disappointing when women make excuses for men’s bad behavior — especially when another woman is the victim of those poor choices. We understand the rush to defend a friend and we know how hard it can be to believe someone close to us could commit an egregious offense. But when it comes to racist remarks, rape accusations, and domestic abuse, there’s just no excuse for making excuses. Here are women who made excuses for men’s bad behavior and, in some instances, even shamed other women affected by those actions.
