Tamar Fired Her Stylist For Shaming Her Forever 21 Outfit; 9 Other Times Stars Wore Affordable Brands
Just because celebrities can afford (or at least we think they can) all of the high-fashion brands doesn’t mean they don’t like fab affordable finds as much as we do. That’s right. Just because something costs less than $50 doesn’t mean a star can’t dress it up and look great in it. Tamar Braxton made that clear when she shared with her followers that she recently fired a stylist who questioned her decision to wear Forever 21 while out promoting her new album, Bluebird of Happiness. As she told her fans, “I FIRED him because NO ONE should make you feel ‘less than’ because you have on a $40 outfit.”
The stylist today tried to make me feel "less than" because he didn't agree that I should wear @forever21..well.. I FIRED him because NO ONE should make you feel "less than" because you have on a $40 outfit!! How AWFUL!! 😰..so my clothes make me?!🤔.. NEVER!!!… Be confident in WHATEVER u have….Wear, are, and CHOOSE to be or afford!! You BETTER walk in confidence no matter what shape, size, or financial situation!! You are AMAZING and don't let ANYONE bully you into spending what you have.. or NOT.. it doesn't make you ANY LESS FABULOUS!! You make the clothes!! Your SPIRIT makes you!! EMBRACE YOU!! YOU ARE PERFECT!! NO MATTER WHAT!! #LOVEYOU thank you @fashionbombdaily for posting AND knowing that's it's about THE GIRL!! #bluebirdofhappiness🐦💙
But this isn’t necessarily a novel thing. Braxton isn’t the first star to opt for an everyday brand over the expensive fashion houses. Some of your favorites, including Beyoncé, Michelle Obama and Lupita Nyong’o, have no problem mixing what they call “low-end” fashions with high-end pieces. Check out a few other times the stars put on the same clothes from affordable fashion brands as you.
Michelle Obama – J. Crew
While she was our first lady (and boy do we miss her), Michelle Obama wore all sorts of designer clothing. However, what she was known for during her time in the White House was her love of clothing from J. Crew. She wore their pieces regularly, including during both inaugurations.
Lupita Nyong’o – H&M
The Oscar winner was a fan of H&M’s affordable collaboration with Kenzo. She wore one of the looks they offered to the premiere of the film Loving, which wasn’t too pricey (the top started at $70).
Nicki Minaj – Victoria’s Secret
Who doesn’t love a cozy sweatsuit? Nicki Minaj relaxed with family in a pair of Victoria’s Secret PINK sweats, which she’s also been spotted in while on the go.
Beyoncé – Topshop
Bey probably stanned for Topshop the way she did because she knew she was going to work with the company to bring the world Ivy Park. Whatever the motivation, Beyoncé sported their clothing for numerous outings with Jay Z and still does from time to time.
Solange – Madewell
Solo is quite the fashionista, so it made sense that she teamed up with J. Crew’s sister brand, Madewell, to be their muse in 2012. She put a twist on the regular way they style their preppy chic pieces.
Teyana Taylor – Fashion Nova
Who isn’t rocking Fashion Nova? Many stars from Cardi B to K. Michelle and LaLa Anthony have worn the very affordable fashion store’s pieces. But no one looks quite as effortlessly fabulous in them as Teyana Taylor.
Gabrielle Union – ASOS
This beauty jazzed up an ASOS dress while out and out about with her team. Union is a lover of low-end pieces from brands like ASOS and Forever 21, and she teamed up with New York & Company to do her own fashion line.
Erica Campbell – Zara
I’m not sure if Goo Goo is still Erica’s stylist, but she often put her sisters in a mix of low-end and high-end fashions. Erica sported this look from Zara for the WEtv premiere event for Mary Mary recently.
Christina Milian – Forever 21
Milian looked comfortable and cute in a “Barbie” top from Forever 21. She’s another star who regularly enjoys rocking low-end pieces from brands like Forever 21, H&M and Fashion Nova.
