So, Purple Wasn’t Prince’s Favorite Color…
Prince has many names. The Artist, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince, and The Purple One. And while that last moniker wasn’t a misnomer, considering the pinnacle of his fame was sealed with the release of the single and the album Purple Rain, it wasn’t his favorite color. Just his signature one.
So where is this new bit of information coming from? A pretty reliable source, his sister Tyka Nelson shared that tidbit when she introduced a new exhibit of her brother’s work at the O2 arena in London.
“There are lots of never-before-seen articles that my brother had stored over the years, and it will be the first time they have ever left Paisley Park. The stand out piece for me is his orange Cloud guitar. It is strange because people always associate the colour purple with Prince, but his favourite colour was actually orange.”

She also noted that London was Prince’s favorite city outside of the United States. “London was the city that accepted Prince the most. It was the obvious choice of where we should exhibit first, it just felt right.”
Fans will be able to see the items on view, including his orange cloud guitar when the exhibit opens in October.
