Sanaa Lathan To Play Lead In Netflix Adaptation Of Nappily Ever After
Netflix domination continues with news that the network will be bringing the best-selling book Nappily Ever After to life with a small screen adaptation on their streaming service. And one of our favorite ladies, Sanaa Lathan, is set to lead.
According to Variety, “the film follows a woman with a seemingly flawless life — a great job, a handsome boyfriend who’s a doctor, and a meticulously maintained coiffure. But after an accident at the hair salon, each of these things starts to unravel, and Violet begins to realize that she was living the life she thought she was supposed to live, not the one that she really wanted.”
Trisha R. Thomas is author of the novel and Haifaa Al-Mansour is set to direct the adaptation with Marc Platt, Tracey Bing, Jared Leboff, and Lathan producing. Gina Prince-Bythewood provided rewrites for the script originally written by Tina Chism.
Production is set to begin this month in Atlanta. We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes out for this one. Have you read the novel?
