10 Of The Best Budget Buys In Walmart’s Newly Revamped Beauty Section
It takes money to look good, but beauty doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Budget beauty also doesn’t have to come with a budget experience — if you know what I mean.
Walmart does, which is why the big box retailer has begun completely revamping its beauty department to provide a more expansive and interactive shopping experience for customers. Gone are the days where you’d find a tiny shelf for a few “ethnic” hair care brands or a small array of skincare or makeup options. Now, products are organized by hair type — wavy, curly, and coily — and there are a number of brands and product offerings exclusive to Walmart that suit all customer needs.
“Our goal is to surprise our customers and delight them when they come in the store,” said Walmart representative Cindy Lee during a visit to the company’s “reimagined” beauty department within it’s Secaucus, NJ, store.
And that it did, showing us collections from major brands like Milani, the Mane Choice, and Burt’s Bees released exclusively at Walmart as well as brands unique to the company like Flower; Korean beauty brand Soee Ae; and Found, an organic makeup and skincare line that tells you the percentage of the product that’s natural right on the packaging. It will launch in 650 stores this September.
With over 700 products available in its beauty department, the options at Walmart are truly endless, but here are 10 items we’d recommend you grab ASAP.
We know summer is winding down, but that doesn’t mean your glow has to go away. Found’s Radiant Illuminating drops are the perfect supplement for your moisturizer or foundation. Just add a couple of drops to either product and watch your face illuminate with a natural glow that’ll definitely have people asking questions.
Let’s just say mousse and matte are a match made in heaven. I love a matte lip, but sometimes the formulas dry out my pucker and cause the color to crack. This matte option from Hard Candy keeps lips moisturized and still covered in color for all-day wear which is a combination that’s hard to come by for this price tag.
Headed to a happy hour after work with no makeup in my purse, I decided to give this highlighting palette from Flower a try. Before I could even glance in the mirror my coworker came by and asked me what highlight I’d put on which let me know this palette had done it’s job. Why spend $30-$50 dollars when you can spend $13 and choose between a champagne, pink, or gold shade.
My lips have been on struggle mode all summer and thought I’ve used a couple of different scrubs to try to smooth out my situation, none have been as effective as this product. Perhaps it’s the Poppy Seed which naturally sloughs off dry and flaky skin or maybe the Mango Seed Butter which nourishes and protects skin from environmental stressors. All I know is my lips are smooth and I haven’t had to apply Vaseline nearly as much as I usually do since using this product.
Dark circles are no joke and neither are the prices for undereye creams, gels, and patches. This Gel Mask from Masquelogy rivals premier products in the market, containing gold and collagen which lift and firm the eye area. Meanwhile, hydrogel provides moisture and elasticity that, overtime, will help eliminate dark circles. That’s a lot of benefit for under $10.
Hyperpigmentation is a big problem for a lot of women of color, but this serum provides a way to combat that by using lime which is an excellent source of Vitamin C. And with a pricetag under $12 and a formula that’s 98% natural, you’ll feel no guilt about picking up this serum.
I don’t believe in applying a full face of makeup just to have it melt away in a few hours, which is why I use primers and setting sprays faithfully. This spray from Milani does both jobs, correcting and priming skin for makeup and then locking it in place for 16 hours after application “without a crease or smudge in sight.” I can’t lie, I found myself hesitant to wash my makeup off the night after using this setting spray, simply because my face still looked so fresh.
The math here is simple; $2 is cheaper than any mascara on the market, let alone any false lashes or lash extension application.
I’m one of the first to tell you a good, cheap lip is hard to find, but Found’s matte liquid lipstick made a liar out of me. This past week I forgot my red lipstick at home so I decided to touch up with this Wine shade at work and I was not disappointed. Application was smooth, the color was highly pigmented and the staying power strong. This easily rivals the premier options on the market.
We’re sure you’ve seen the bubble mask craze on social media and now you can get in on it too with this option which is less than $3. Active binchotan charcoal and oxygen work to refine and refresh pores and the anti-inflammatory properties also help brighten skin.
