I’m confused. No, I’m contused because my brain has been slightly injured trying to understand this: Since when does being a big girl, a BBW, a heavyset woman, or any other synonym for overweight woman equate to being undesirable to men?
What am I talking about? Well, in case you’ve been living under a rock or don’t surf the web everyday, R&B heartthrob Usher Raymond supposedly infected a few people with herpes. One of these alleged people just so happens to be a plus-sized woman named Quantasia Sharpton. The internet is in an uproar because, for some reason, the thought process is good-looking men are never interested in kicking it with a big girl. So this narrative about their rendezvous sounds really outlandish to social media. Check it out:

Why is the validity of this young woman’s story being judged by her physical appearance? Why is it impossible for a man to want to have sex with a heavier woman? Does plus-size mean unattractive? Why isn’t anyone questioning the validity of the first accuser’s story? Is it because her slender physique makes her attractive by default; therefore, making it believable that Usher would actually go to bed with her? These are all questions that need answers because this kind of thinking is jacked up.
I’ve seen the men on my Facebook timeline sharing these posts and cracking jokes about how no one would sleep with Quantasia. But here’s the kicker: I’ve also seen their mothers, baby mamas, and their sidepieces who happen to be “fat girls” as well. So the real tea is that they all love big girls so long as it can remain a secret. Boy bye!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it’s ridiculous to think that because a woman is plus-sized men are not checking for her. Evidently, someone was turned on by their big belly moms for at least one night, otherwise they would not be here today posting such foolerly!
This case has gone from reigniting the stigma around sexually transmitted diseases to full-on fat-shaming — all of which is disgusting. The only fact that remains here is if you have an STD you have a responsibility to notify any and everyone you have sex with. It looks like when it comes to Usher, one of those someone’s just might be a full-figured woman. Deal with it.
