MadameNoire Wants You To #GoRedGetFit Fabulously
Ladies, life is truly a numbers game. Sometimes we win big and sometimes we win small. With numbers, there are things we may take a gamble on – an innocent card game with friends to see who has the better hand or perhaps a bet amongst co-workers to see who will be first to complete a fitness challenge.
However, there are a few areas where numbers are not so much about winning, but more about understanding their value. When it comes to blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI – do you know your numbers? Are they too high or too low? And exactly what do the numbers mean? Though scary to consider – being in the dark can be a matter of life and death – that is why MadameNoire is shining a light on the American Heart Association’s #GoRedGetFit online fitness challenge, nationally sponsored by Macy’s.”
The #GoRedGetFit initiative is designed to help our readers understand what heart disease is and why it’s a big deal. Imagine you and two of your closest friends at a premier brunch spot chatting about love and life. As you giggle away and snap selfies – imagine one of your besties fading away from across the table. Look up – two out of three of you remain. If we go back to the numbers – did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year?
MadameNoire wants you to spread the word socially regarding #GoRedGetFit. We also want you to take time out of your busy schedule to focus on fitness. Even if you just invest a few minutes each day engaging in activities that promote cardio health, you may be able to keep your numbers within a normal range. If you aren’t a gym buff, there are quite a few exercises that you can do right at your desk or in your backyard. We encourage you to focus on your legs, abs, arms, and chest. Hit the stairs at the job versus taking the elevator or escalator. Instead of sending the kids to take out the trash, do it yourself. Rather than texting your neighbor, walk or jog down the street and say hello. These little steps can go a long way.
For the month of July, set a few fitness goals and track your accomplishments. Partner with your girlfriends and hold each other accountable. Make #GoRedGetFit part of your lifestyle, so you can love the life you live.
