‘True Blood’ Actor Nelsan Ellis Dies Of Heart Failure At 39
On Saturday (July 8), it was announced that Nelson Ellis died. The news of the actor and playwright, widely known for his role as Lafayette Reynolds in the HBO series True Blood, death was confirmed by his Emily Gerson Saines.
“Nelson has passed away after complications with heart failure,” Saines told The Hollywood Reporter. “He was a great talent, and his words and presence will be forever missed.”
HBO also shared kind words about Ellis in a statement, saying, “We were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Nelsan Ellis. Nelson was a long-time member of the HBO family whose groundbreaking portrayal of Lafayette will be remembered fondly within the overall legacy of True Blood. Nelsan will be dearly missed by his fans and all of us at HBO.”
