A couple of us, myself included, felt very strongly about Mechelle Epps’ claims that, at the age of 36, she’s too old to get a job and work.

Yes, you read that correctly.

As a result of her perceived inability to work, Mechelle Epps was asking for $109,036 (court documents show that number to be $118,468) per month in support, both spousal and child, from her soon to be ex husband, comedian Mike Epps.

And according to our sister site Bossip, this amount is being heavily contested by Mike Epps.

Now Mechelle claims Mike has intentionally stopped his existing support payments to force her to agree to a much lower number in the divorce settlement.

While Mechelle is asking for over $100 k, Mike believes she deserves $26,503 because of his debts and the taxes he owes.

Mechelle told Bossip, “Mike is attempting to force me to settle by cutting off my support. He has been paying our bills like always, until recently. Now he is cutting off my access to bank accounts and credit cards in an attempt to coerce me to settle.”

Mike, via his lawyers, believe Mechelle needs to tone down her spending, that her lavish lifestyle is funded mostly by debt and that Mike has so little savings, he’s resorted to selling his properties to afford alimony and child support payments.

In court documents, his lawyers argued, “If granted, Mechelle’s requests for support and fees would be financially ruinous for this family, and therefore must be denied.”

In court papers, Mechelle stated, “The amount he wants to limit me to is far below what we have routinely spent on the children and for my living expenses.”

Mechelle, 36, and Mike, 46, were married in 2005 and share two children Moriah, 12 and Madison, 10. The two split last year.

A judge has yet to rule on the settlement
