Last week I got a fabulous blowout at Ursula Stephen Salon that had people asking whether I have a perm and complimenting me on my hair left and right. And then rain and humidity swooped in and tossed all of my beautician’s hard work out the window and I was less than happy with mother nature. Though my hair was still straight, my roots were a pouffy disaster. If I’m going to wear my hair straight, I want every inch of my strands straight.  So when I got home that evening, I decided to try to resurrect the blowout of my dreams from earlier that morning.

I decided to whip out my SIGNATUREPRO Comb Infused Talking Flat Iron from The Mane Choice. I hadn’t had a chance to give it a try yet since I haven’t straightened my hair in months and I was really curious about the comb attachment which gave me high hopes about getting my roots straight again.

As soon as I plugged in the flat iron, I was greeted by a voice telling me the iron was on. And as I pushed the buttons to set my desired temperature to 450 degrees, I was told again that the iron was heating up. Not even a minute later a voice announced that temperature had been reached which was a welcome change from the guessing when it comes to waiting for other flat irons to get hot.

I started at the back of my head and I can’t lie, I was a little thrown by the comb. Because of the teeth on the iron, you don’t get that smooth glide across your hair. It feels more like pulling a small tooth comb over your strands, sound and all, which took some getting used to. I was worried my hair was getting pulled, but I didn’t lose a single strand and my hair was smoothing out nicely, thanks to the ceramic & tourmaline dual action plates.

Aside from the back of my head which was more tangled, I only had to do, at most, two passes over every section of my hair. And in the end, my roots were perfectly straight and laid down like they had been earlier in the day.

To finish my look, I applied just a dab of Laid Back Effortlessly, The Mane Choice’s growth stimulating edge control that keeps edges straight and in place while stimulating dormant hair follicles to grow and retain edges and I was set — and happy again.
