If you know anything about Cuba Gooding Jr. and his family, then you know his father, Cuba Gooding Sr. In very sad news, the patriarch of the family was found dead in his car on Thursday afternoon in Los Angeles. He was 72 years old.
According to the LAPD, Gooding was found in the Woodland Hills neighborhood and CPR was attempted, however, Gooding was incapable of being resuscitated. There was reportedly no indication of foul play. An autopsy is pending.
Gooding Sr. was the lead singer of the music group The Main Ingredient. They were known for hits including “Everybody Plays the Fool” and “I Only Have Eyes For You.” He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and four kids, including actor Cuba Gooding Jr., fellow actor Omar, April and Tommy.
The Academy-award winning actor paid homage to his father on Instagram late last night. He kept it brief but shared an image of his father with Main Ingredient and included the caption, “Eternal…”
According to TMZ, Cuba Jr. still reported to work and tried to pull it together on the set of his film Life in a Year, which Jaden Smith is also a star of. They were shooting in Toronto and Smith managed to crack a smile or two with his co-star.
