French Actress Likens Jill Scott To A Dog On Television
People love to say ignorant things like ‘Oh, they’re French, English or European” they don’t have racism over there. As if it wasn’t the Europeans who started the institution of American slavery, the aftermaths of which we’re still dealing with today.
I know the woke among y’all don’t necessarily need proof. But for those of you who do, let this recent comments made on French television show “Quotidien” help expose you to the truth.
On the show, writer and actress Reem Kherici and actress Alice Belaïdi spoke with host Yann Barthès.
During the show, Barthès asked Belaïdi why she named her dog Jill.
She responded, “Because she looks like, according to me, it’s very subjective, to Jill Scott, the singer.”
Immediately the audience laughed. And producers for the show must have been prepared for the response and also found it funny. Because they had the image of Jill Scott’s Beautifully Human album cover ready to be displayed on the screen.
Belaïdi laughed, Barthès laughed and the audience clapped.
After the chuckles subsided, Barthès realized that perhaps their banter could be considered offensive.
“They don’t look alike at all,” he offered.
But Belaïdi would not be swayed. “They have the same nose, don’t argue.”
“No, but Jill Scott is much prettier! She doesn’t look like a dog,” Barthès said.
Belaïdi did admit that Jill Scott sings better. She’s her favorite singer.
Thanks but no thanks.
You can see how the whole thing went down below.
