Girl ready to go on vacation using travel app on smart-phone

Five months ago, my boyfriend of two years moved from Chicago to Houston for an amazing job opportunity with his company. The promotion required him to temporarily relocate for a year to set up a new office for his company and we decided we’d try to stick to a schedule of seeing each other every three weeks, rotating who travels to see the other, to stay connected.

In the beginning it was fun packing up for weekend getaways and exploring a new city, but five months in I’m started to feel burnt out — and so is my wallet. Even though flight prices haven’t been too expensive, dropping a couple hundred dollars every six weeks on airfare, plus the cost of getting to and from the airport and all the other little incidentals that come from traveling have added up.

Chris (my boyfriend) and I had planned to begin setting money aside to get a place together next year, and while that’s still on the table, I’m spending the money I would’ve saved for a new place on travel. His promotion has helped his wallet, but my pay hasn’t changed, just my expenses.

Obviously, Chris and I can’t go seven months without seeing each other, and I don’t want to only put it on him to come see me or even have him pay for my flights, but I’m realizing the whole long-distance thing isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. What should I do?
