Keeping Up With Kim & Tyler Perry?

HELLUR!! Kim Kardashian is hitting the big screen…

That Kim Kardashian reign just won’t let up. *cue Rihanna* In peculiar news, Kim announced last night that she’s been cast to co-star in Tyler Perry’s new movie, The Marriage Counselor, which is based on his stage play. No, she’s not kidding.  The movie stars Jurnee Smollett as the relationship expert new to town and Kim will play her co-worker who’s there to loosen her up and welcome her to the big city of Atlanta.  Tyler, what? Now I’m sure this will just heighten the “I can’t stand him either and now you see why” detractors because Kim isn’t known for her acting; but, will this move make Tyler’s biggest fans give him the side eye?

I get it, TP, I really do. That Kim Kardashian flame is hot right now and you need to strike while it still is.  Having someone like Kimmy in his movie might help to expand his brand beyond just “the family (read: Black people).” This move will definitely get him more promotion on E! Television (home of Kim’s family reality show, Keeping up With the Kardashians), promos/mentions during American Idol (executive producer of KUWTK is Ryan Seacrest who is the host of AI) and who knows what else? So yeah, I see the opportunity here.   However, Kim has seemingly not been given a lot of love from Black women, who are the biggest supporters of Tyler’s movies.  But if I were you, I’d prepare myself to see her in more of his films after The Marriage Counselor because being in a TP movie is like joining a gang: once you’re in, there seems to be no way out.

So what do you think about Perry casting a Kardashian? Will you check out the movie? Let us know!
