There are more Tyler Perry haters than a little bit. Tyler had a few words for them when he accepted his award from Al Sharpton and the National Action Network. This time Sharpton came to his defense as well.

*Hint* the word “uppity” was thrown out there.

    He has the power to change the stereotypes of black people, because he employs black actors. So he should use that power for good, instead of constantly reinforcing them. Don't black actors want to be taken seriously as actors period?? Not just typecasted as the tyler perry actors?

      Black actors with Perry are caught in a "damned if they do and damned if they don't" situation. If they mess with him, they can be guaranteed to be caught up in his paper-thin, minstrel plots. But rejecting his offer of a role means not working if they're already struggling taking whatever menial and secondary parts they can get in Hollywood, while Perry is offering black actors more than just servant and wallpaper roles.
