We can respect open and unabashed individuals who aren’t afraid to tell the truth and shame the devil. But at the same time, some truth-telling is best kept to one’s self. You never know when it can encourage some really unhealthy and dangerous things — like having liposuction surgery (which you can have risky complications from) as often as you get an oil change on your car.

Shekinah Jo, the celebrity hairstylist known for her work and friendship with Tiny and her appearances on T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle, has been appearing on The Real this week. While there as a guest host, she opened up about having work done on her body. In fact, she had some major work done a month ago, including a breast reduction and liposuction. According to her, the procedure was done by the same doctor who did her initial fat transfer a few years ago, which took fat from her stomach and moved it to her backside. She decided to have work done again last month because she let herself go and admitted to wanting a quick fix.

“I kind of got too big,” she said. “If you have lipo and you don’t eat right, fat comes back in your chin, your face and in your elbows — where it wants to come. It goes other places when you don’t follow your diet and don’t do what you’re supposed to do.”

Jo, who promotes flat tummy teas and waist trainers on her Instagram page, said not following a healthy diet was the reason her latest procedure was her third liposuction. Despite the process being a painful one (she said she’s still not fully healed as it can take months), it’s her preferred way to slim down.

“This is my third time having lipo because I’m a lazy person,” she told the hosts. “I usually go back for the stomach. This time I did the stomach, the upper flanks, the lower flanks, you know.”

But when asked if she’s going about things differently this time around to avoid weight gain by eating better, Jo was honest that much hasn’t changed.

“You want the truth? I still been eating stuff I don’t have no business eating.”

One might assume that her back-to-back cosmetic surgeries might signal that Jo is not happy with herself, or that the allure of a small waist and big butt in Atlanta drives her to continue to get lipo. However, Jo told the hosts that she loves herself and her body and feels that if you want to get something done from time to time, why can’t you?

“I love myself either way,” she said. “I feel like if any woman wants to make themselves better and they feel like doing something to make themselves better, go do it. You only have one life to live.”
