For anyone slightly interested in beauty and skincare, then more than likely you’ve heard of 24K gold face masks. The product has been popping up on some of our favorite celebrity faces over social media, and it’s had us wondering what those pricey gilded sheets do. Sure, their name alone makes you feel luxurious and rich, but the jury on whether or not your face will actually reap the benefits is another thing.
Recently, beauty vlogger Farah Dhukai decided to answer the one question many have in regards to the face masks. But instead of cashing out on a single sheet mask (Dhukai estimates the retail price of one mask to be around $75-100, with similar spa procedures going as high as $770), she decided to go the DIY route. And of course, we’re here for it!
While her version cost about $6 per use, featuring 24K gold sheets and her favorite rosehip oil.
“The oil/serum is what gives you a glow/hydrated skin,” Dhukai wrote in her caption about her gilded experience. “It looks cool on the ‘gram, but cool is as good as it gets.” We’re still holding out a sliver of hope that the real thing has magical skin-transforming properties, but you know what they say: Not all that glitters is gold.
