A Pregnant Nia Long Does Double Cover for Ebony in the Nude

October 4th, 2011 - By Victoria Uwumarogie

"Nia Long on Ebony cover"

Somebody is very far along! The very fabulous Nia Long, the happy mother-to-be of her second child (her first with NBA player Ime Udoka), is gracing the cover of Ebony’s November issue. With skin just a-glowing and a fierce facial expression, Nia did two covers: A profile with some lovely makeup applied if I must say so myself, and the other, a shot of her bare belly, Long holding herself in all her glory. Both shots are pretty epic, and very beautiful. But outside of the cover, in the new issue, Long talks about how shocked she was by her new pregnancy, marriage, how she’s been reconnecting with her family in the West Indies, and having a baby after 40: “The medical profession tries to tell every woman, ‘Have your babies before 40…’ Society tells us ‘Get married before 30…’ I think if we just take our time as women, and do what comes natural to us and for us, we would make fewer mistakes.” I love it! Hey, if Demi Moore and everybody else can bare their bellies and behinds on the cover of magazines while pregnant, Miss Long definitely can–and she looks amazing. Would you agree?

Pregnancy is NOT about how beautiful the mother is! If her pregnancy was planned, the timing was way off!! I think it is bad taste on Ebony's part to have her on the cover. It sends the wrong message to women (especially young girls) of child-bearing age. Every child regardless of the parent's income or career deserve to have both parents living with them under one roof. Black women have the worse reputation for their lack of moral fiber of any race of women in this country, and this is not progress!

Agreed Layla these people on here stand for nothing and are falling for everything.

  • Steelcitychick

    Gorgeous, as usual!….Congrats Nia!

She looks really beautiful!!!!! Best Wishes to her and her unborn baby.

There is a reason why the medical community advises that women have their children before 40. Fertility decreases and the risk of genetic abnormalities greatly increases. Let’s be honest, and don’t let the celebs fool you, some use IVF and freeze their eggs.

However, there is something to be said for waiting until one is financially secure and mentally prepared for child rearing. Not to mention in a stable relationship. It takes 2 parents to raise a child. A mother AND a father.

Agreed! The long term risks that coud arise from having a child after 40 are life altering for the mother and the child…not every decision is soley based on society's standards…some are due to the risk involved with making the choice and a wise woman would definitey know the difference.

Nia Long looks BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love the fact that she kept a low profile being pregnant and she was not in the news EVERYDAY like some other celebrity (no disrespect). Pregnancy definitely agree with her!!!!

I love it. I for one am sick and tired of people putting there 2 cents in other peoples lives. Last time I checked it was not written in stone on when to have a baby, motherhood or parenting. I’m sure she is aware of the health issues that could arise. So what, if she is in her 40′sa having a baby. Everything happens for a reason in its own season. I was always told that. I stand on it and believe it. I could go on but I won’t. Nia looks amazing I wish her and her family all the best.

Stop falling for the fluff. At the end f the day she's another single mother with two baby daddies and Essence is pathetic for promoting this bullshyt when 75 percent of kids in the AA community are born out of wedlock. bLooks don't fount for everything. People are really getting ridiculous and superficial. Atheist black community is going down in flames.

"Hey, if Demi Moore and everybody else can bare their bellies and behinds on the cover of magazines while pregnant, Miss Long definitely can–and she looks amazing. Would you agree?" <—-No, I don't agree. Color me prude, but I just don't think women should be nude, preggers or not, on the cover of a magazine. Just one woman's opinion.

I also don't think it's cool to be a 40-year old baby momma of a new born baby. By the time we hit 40 I think we should be wearing our big girl panties and just doing it the right way.

No nostalgia here, but everything about the "good old days" weren't as bad as we think; and all "new stuff" that is being shoved down our throats ain't that good.

Big Girl Panties? There is nothing more mature than being a mom (a good one). Ummm, I think she has a great career, good love life, etc. She has herself together and is at the perfect time for raising a child. I work with the Department of Social Services and almost all of my clients who have had their children taken away are in their 20s and 30s, sooooo…Big girl Panties? That makes so sense.

You mean the good old days when women who got knocked up, got married, stayed at home, had no job, and relied on the support of a man she had grown to hate because had multiple girlfriends on the side. A married that raised 2.5 neurotic children cuz mom hated dad and dad cheated all the time? That until dad eventually divorced mom for a much younger woman leaving herl with no marketable skills and without income?

Oh wait. That's white women. Black women, dad was out the door as soon as mom announced she was pregnant and was never heard from again, although he lived just a few blocks a way with his newest girlfriend. And mom was left to raise the kid with the help of grandmama and maybe a couple of sisters.

        Those good old days?

  • Audriciam

Shoot…..some women need to wait until they are 40 to have kids.

  • Teresa Hinds

    Beautiful "WOMAN".

  • NappMama

I absolutely believe a woman should have children at any age she feels is right for her…Today's 40 + woman is not like the woman of the 50's…We're healthier, wealthier, wiser…I pray her baby is strong, healthy & full of destiny
