It’s no coincidence that Teneshia Jackson Warner cites The Alchemist as her favorite book. If anything, the book’s message about following your passions and making it happen inspired her own rise as an entrepreneur and marketing mogul.

Today, Warner is the CEO of Egami Consulting Group, a multicultural marketing firm that has worked with many top Fortune 500 clients. As she tells it, her persistance with tracking down Russell Simmons and persuading him to give her a volunteer position was what gave her a big foot in the door as she transitioned away from a career in computer science.

The Alabama A&M University grad tells us how she manages to run a highly successful firm and do it all, while married to her life and business partner.

This is the second of these interviews I'm seen, and I've greatly impressed by the professionalism of both the interviewees, and the interviewer herself. These sisters are giving me a renewed confidence in the viabilty of our culture. __But at the same time, these interviews have caused me great concern regarding some of our brothers. These sisters are educating themselves and moving on, while far too many of our brothers just don't seem to get it. While Ms Warner indicated that she's in a stable and mutually supportive relationship, I can't help but wonder where many of our equally impressive sisters are going to find suitable mates.

Great interview! I really admire the way she took the intiative with Russell Simmons, and kudos to him for giving her an opportunity. I think we need more mentorship within the Black community, and this is an excellent example of what can be accomplished. Love the interivews..very inspiring..keep them coming!
