It’s always interesting to look at a child and see which traits were passed down and where they might have come from. In the case of MilliAnna, you don’t have to look too far. Both she and her mother bear the same distinctive birthmark.

It’s a patch of hair in the middle of her head that has no pigment. Her mother, 23-year-old Brianna Worthy, has the exact same one, in the same place. But baby MillAnna and Brianna aren’t the only two with this birthmark. Her grandmother and great- grandmother have the same hair. Making her the fourth generation to inherit the look.

Brianna said that because her grandmother was adopted, they don’t know how far the birthmark goes back.

The birthmark is really a hair and skin condition called Poliosis, a condition that results in the absence of melanin in the hair, eyebrows, eyelashes or any other hairy areas.

While the birthmark usually elicits questions from those the mother and daughter pass on the street, there was a time when people weren’t so kind about her birthmark. Worthy recalled kids calling her skunk when she was growing up.

As for MilliAnna she said, “I plan to raise my daughter knowing she is beautiful and special and to not listen to people mean comments at times.”
