Gabrielle Union just turned 44 late last month, and I think we would all agree that she looks anything but that age. Fierce, darling!

We’ve heard her say many a time that a gallon of water a day helps her to keep the crows feet and age lines away. But while speaking to Access Hollywood about her new film Almost Christmas, which comes out on Friday, Union said that knowing when to say no to people is what really keeps her looking and feeling young.

“I drink a gallon of water a day, but you know what it is? I say no a lot,” Union told Kitt Hoover and Natalie Morales. “A lot of my friends that seem to age a little more rapidly than I do say yes to everything. ‘Yes, I will be president of the PTA. Yes, I will drive in every carpool. Yes, I will be at my husband’s work. Yes, I will take on extra shifts.’

Union said that while many of us may feel bad about saying no because we don’t want to let people down, sooner or later you find that those people don’t need your assistance as much as they let on.

“At first you’re like, ‘Oh my God, people won’t love me if I don’t say yes,'” she said. “And you realize, magically, people figure it out. Things get done, the world doesn’t end, and it’s the best anti-aging advice.”

Someone who also keeps Union feeling young is her husband of two years, Dwyane Wade. When asked how the pair met, Union said it was during a time when she was head over heels for another man. Obviously, that guy wasn’t the right man.

“We met at a party,” she told the hosts. “I hosted a Super Bowl party. I was truly, madly, deeply in love with someone else. But that’s how we met. We kind of became friends. Invariably, the truly, madly, deeply guy turned out to be not so amazing and D turned out to be the cutie that was persistent.”
