Here’s How To Recreate Taraji P. Henson’s Twisted Top Knot
When it comes to walking the red carpet, Taraji P. Henson always slays.
And it was no different when the actress sashayed her way down the carpet, posing for a plethora of press at the Chicago International Film Festival this past weekend in a satin Kimono dress. In addition to her fashions being up to par, her hairstyle caught the attention of many. Simple yet intricately sophisticated, Henson’s stylist Tym Wallace styled the Empire star’s tresses in a twisted top knot.
Interested in how you too can rock this look? Wallace shared with the Daily Mail how to do so.
First, use a heat protectant spray to clean hair, to protect it from damage, of course. Then, simply flat iron the hair in sections. According to Wallace, the key to perfecting this look is to actually “straighten the hair in an upward motion to shape the hair.” Once that’s done, you should brush the hair into a high ponytail (free of tangles, etc.) and secure it with an elastic.
After, apply Mizani Edge Taming Gel along the hairline to “smooth and mold” the ponytail before beginning to wrap the hair around itself into a tight bun, securing it with bobby pins. Lastly, use a bit of hairspray to give your style some hold and keep frizz at bay throughout the day or evening.
