Black women taking home major pageant crowns is becoming more and more common, and we’re loving it. Deshauna Barber was crowned Miss USA 2016, Cierra Jackson, Miss DC, took home the competition’s swimsuit award during Miss America 2016 (all while rocking her natural hair), and now, the first Black Miss Missouri USA has been crowned. Her name is Bayleigh Dayton.

After winning Miss Congeniality and the evening gown competition but coming in as a first runner up in last year’s Miss Missouri USA competition, Dayton took home the crown this time around. The Lee’s Summit native (a suburb of Kansas City) is a graduate of Baylor University (class of 2014) with a degree in business administration. She works not only as a flight attendant, but a model, and has done campaigns for Sprint and Hallmark, according to Black Girl Long Hair.

This sounds like the beginning of some really great things for the beauty, who was so shocked when she was named the winner that she yelled out “Shut up!”

Up next for Dayton? The young woman is set to prepare for the Miss USA competition.

Congratulations to Dayton on taking home the crown! Check out more images of the new Miss Missouri USA 2017 below:
