Many of us remember what it was like to move into our dorms freshman year: the excitement, anxiety, and stress; hope that we’d be roomed with a sane, clean, human being; fear we’d receive a roommate from hell. And while we can recount the number of disgusting or passive- aggressive roommates we actually had to deal with, nothing beats UCLA freshmen Winnie Chen and Guidtinna Tun’s third roommate, Ashly, whose been giving off Ms. Trunchbull vibes via email.

Before they even met or moved into their UCLA dorm, Ashly wrote a scathing email to Winnie and Guidtinna, reprimanding them for  “ignoring” her.

Initially, Winnie shrugged off Ashly’s email until she discussed it with family and friends who told her Ashly’s insolent tone and behavior obviously wasn’t acceptable. NBC12 reports Winnie, who’ll be studying Financial Actuarial Mathematics, wrote back to Ashly, stating the following:

“Not only have I been incredibly busy moving houses this week and driving back and forth for more than three hours every day, which leaves me little to no time to talk to my friends – much less check my email – but I’m not used to communicating with people through email. So please excuse me for being rusty at this. Plus, we first got in contact on Tuesday, and today is barely Thursday. A day’s difference shouldn’t be made into such a “BIGGER SITUATION”.I’d understand if you would want to change your roommates after reading this email, because honestly, that is how me and Winnie felt after reading yours. But if you’re willing to work this out and start over, then so are we. I’m all about being open minded and getting to know people. Just let me and Winnie know.”

Ashly, who was originally upset that her roommates took a “long time” to write back to her,  ironically took a week to respond herself. She, of course, sent another contrived email, trying to make light of her absurd behavior by saying she’s an “overanalyzer,” and has “anger issues.”

Despite Ashly’s “apology,” Winnie still contacted UCLA Housing to change her and Guidtinna’s rooming assignment. Unfortunately, Housing says the two must find someone that will be willing to switch with them, reports The Tab. Winnie told The Tab, she and Guidtinna plan to meet with their Resident Assistant and Ashly at the beginning of the school year so that they’ll be able to clear the air and start anew.

Peace, love and lots of sage to all.
