As you may already know, MommyNoire loves celebrating and highlighting women running a home and boardroom. Meet Melissia Rene Brim, a mother of two, entrepreneur, motivational speaker and managing partner at The Money Team who recently shared with us how she takes charge at home and at work, where her company is powered by her family.

The former teen mom turned her struggle into a hustle at the age of 16, not long after her son was born. Having a natural charismatic and philanthropic spirit, Melissia was inspired to support herself and help women with similar experiences. Melissia used her drive to become her own boss, and with the help of her parents and a close friend, she was able to grow her store, Devanna Love, a boutique beauty bar in Las Vegas specializing in trending women’s fashion.

Melissia knows a thing or two about packing a punch when running a business thanks to a few tips from her co-parent, Floyd Mayweather Jr. The two share a 16-year-old daughter, Iyanna Mayweather, in addition to business savvy and store merchandise. Operating under the motto, “We don’t follow trends, we set them,” Devanna Love has been the one-stop shop for all things style and beauty. With a full functioning hair salon, high-end consignment shop, accessories and much more, Brim successfully launched  the ultimate beauty boutique.

As Melissia established herself as her own brand and business woman, she confessed that being “attached” to Mayweather Jr. was “a gift and a curse.” While she fully acknowledges, and appreciates, the benefits of their working and personal relationship as co-parents, Brim is confident her name carries its own weight and value. As a mom to a teen daughter, and 20-year-old son, this #momboss thanks her lucky stars her children are of an independent age.

Having older children has afforded Melissia the luxury of running her business without the worries of leaving young children behind, as she is very hands-on in every aspect of her business. Melissia shared that she loves watching her son grind for what he wants, as he has begun to build his own clothing line. Although she could make things easy for him, she wants her son to know the value of hard work. Her best advice for him:  “You have to have a hustle to support your hustle.”

Melissia also shared that she loves working closely with her family. “Working with family affords me the comfort to be able to trust that things are going smoothly. I do not have to worry that my drawer will be short, or something may go wrong while I am away.”

As most moms will admit, Melissia confessed that she struggles with balancing her work and family time and has come to make an concerted effort to make and keep lunch dates and schedule family outings with the kids. With her family as her driving force, Melissia doesn’t project she will be taking days off anytime soon. But that’s the life of a mom boss, isn’t it?
