So People Are Going On Vacation Just So They Can Sleep
Many of us use our vacation days to indulge in luxurious locations or explore popular sights and wonders of the world, but a new study claims the #TravelGoals we say we’re accomplishing are actually a farse.
In reality, many of us are sleeping on our vacations, according to the Princess Cruises study which found “72 percent of respondents said they use at least one vacation day a year just to catch up on sleep,” reports Travel and Leisure. Additionally, two out of five surveyed for the Wakefield Research revealed that they’ve used five days’ worth of vacation time to pass out.
When people aren’t sneaking naps in, respondents to the individual studies shared that they use vacation time to go to doctors’ appointments, spend time with their children or finish their household chores. And although many of the latter respondents did everything but rest, it is an accomplishment that they are using their vacation days. In 2015, it was reported by Project Time Off that 658 million Americans had unused vacation days and it cost the economy $223 billion.
So do Uncle Sam a favor and take some time off…even if you’ll be sleeping the entire time!
